Hi,

I was interested in getting a Box Cue. Some of the Builder whose style I really like don't make cues anymore or are not taking orders currently. I really ĺike the build style and quality of the following:
1. JossWest...
A. Retired
B. His box Cues are rare and very hard to find
2. Ginacue...
A. Not taking orders until 2022
B. I love his older style cues
3. Dennis Searing...
A. Hard to get in contact with
B. May or may not still be active

Does anyone have a recommendation for a high quality current Builder?

Does anyone have a idea What a vintage JossWest or Ginacue would cost today?

Bill at Cornerstone Cues has a gorgeous Scruggs box cue in the style of the Ginacue box cues you probably have in mind. I think the price is $6000.

Bill Stroud is unfortunately not retired, he is deceased.

It's my understanding Ernie will only work on cues over $5K at this point, and if he agreed to something like a box cue, I would expect to pay a good, good deal more than that.

I wouldn't realistically expect to get a new Searing of any kind right now.

For me personally, I'd see if James White would build one for me.

Thanks, for the information. I have been away for a while, I had no idea Mr. Stroud passed away. I'm very sad to hear that.

I spoke with Ernie, today and he did quote me the $4k-$5k as starting point.

You will be thrilled to see not only the quality of Bob’s workmanship
but his pricing too versus what Ernie quoted & likely turnaround time.

Bob owns Shurtz Custom Cues but nowadays the names Owen and Shurtz are synonymous.
He is located in Witchita, Ks.; you can reached him at (316)269-3844. He’s a big Royals BB fan.

He is the nicest person, answers the phone or always calls you back and just never disappoints.
My last cue he made was a very challenging design but Bob nailed it and the cue feels so great.

Without a doubt, contact Bob Owen and stop looking.
He produces incredible box cue designs…..better than
anyone else today, IMO. He is a masterful cue maker.
I was gonna mention him as well. My buddy has a box cue from him. Very clean work. Well worth the cost too.

Well I'll throw in Bob Owen since no one else is saying it. 😉 but seriously Bob is the man right now and his turn around time is very good. My brother talked me out of my last Owen right after Bob refinished it. Amazing work and low cost.
