The main benefit is convenience and you don't need a larger case to accommodate separate break and jump cues.
But it is a compromise to finding the best break cue and the best jump cue for you. The best of each aren't often both available in the same cue. Another disadvantage is if the tip falls off or say you crack the shaft, you've lost both your jump and your break cues.
