Break Cue with Kamui Hard

I did on a Jacoby jump/break/play cue I had... It broke em well. The Kamui Black Hard tips are (IMO) one of the hardest playing tips out there, but definitely not as hard as a Samsara leather break tip... My regular playing tip is also a Kamui Black Hard, so I don't know if my opinion on it is of much help.. :shrug:

Rain-Man..... have you ever tyried an Ultra Skin HH ??? THAT has to be the hardest layered leather playing tip I have ever seen in my life, they are hard as a rock, makes an excellent break tip and you can still shoot with it.
I used once a kamui black hard, it wasn't as hard as expected to be for a break cue (my perception), but kamui hard brown tips are harder than the black ones, they are really hard for a layered tip still having the feeling of leather.
Samsara tips do not feel like leather to me, they are closer to phenolic tips in terms of feeeling.

Ive never tried an Ultraskin HH as a break tip, maybe I will.. I know a lot of people like the Ultraskin tips, but I personally don't (as a playing tip). Ive tried them several times now, on different shafts, and I think the problem I have with them is that my expected perception of them, based upon reviews and statements from other members, is that they are comparable to Kamui Blacks. The only thing (IMO) comparable about the two is the color. They play NOTHING alike... For the price, you can't beat em, are a well made tip, and made by all accounts a great member of the AZ community (Tom). But they do not play like a Kamui Black, not even close to one..

A hard tip on a Break Cue can pose problems with accuracy and/or miscues. When hit very well, the hard tip does it's work very well. When hit poorly, the hard tip shows its flaws. Other tips, even those that are just a skosh or two softer, may be more forgiving.
There is a fine line between the hard impact of a cue tip & the control of the cue ball.

I have brown hard Kamui on Cuetec WCT breaker and love it
I tried a Kamui Black Hard as a playing tip. It turned out to be too hard for my normal play. Since I already owned the tip, I tried it for breaking. I thought it was great in combining speed with control. I do not have a pro speed break, so the loss in cue ball velocity was not apparent to me. While I liked it for breaks, I did not think the KBH was hard enough to dedicate as a jump tip.
Had the Kamui black Hard put on over my phenolic tip. Then went to Samsura. Not even close to the Samsura in speed and still maintain control.
Use the soft Kamui on my regular cue and Love it.
