Break cues

I have cracked a ferrule when breaking with my old playering cue when I was playing a lot. It was on my Huebler cue, not sure what type of ferrules they were to be honest. I also had 2 tips fall off. . .After it happened the second time, I decided to invest in a cheap cue for breaking.

This time around, when I decided to get back into pool, I went and got a BK2, and prior to that was breaking with a house cue because I didn't want to break a ferrule or tip on my Schon that I bought.

I hope that is along the lines of the original post you were looking for as far as equipment damage. I can say I did do some minor damage to my cue while breaking, and it has swayed me to not break with my playing cue any more.

The hit/ break you get is very different between break/ playing cues, i my experience.

Sometimes one gives better results than the other...better result being the goal, I have and use both.

Did you search?:grin::grin:

This says it all.

I happen to like my BK2, because the balance of the cue is more favorable to my break technique, and overall I like the results I get. My playing cue is more forward balanced (which I don't like on the break). Also, my playing tip will mushroom quickly if I break with it often, since I tend to break pretty hard. Finally, my technique often results in the cue hitting the rail. My break cue is pretty gouged up right at that point, and I like my playing cue to look nice if possible. All that being said, I like the way my playing cue hits on the rare times I break with it, and would not be sad if I HAD to break with it all the time (from a pure performance standpoint.)

Hope this helps.

The shaft on my playing cue would not handle a break whatsoever. 11mm and whippier than crap. I break hard, and would shatter that shaft, probably within 10 racks. I once saw a guy splinter a shaft breaking. Split the shaft all the way up it. Since then, I use a break cue.

so i take it the general consensus is feel and control and just overall result. does anybody think they may be doing damage to their player by breaking with it

See my previous post...I often hit the rail with my cue, and it gets pretty gouged up. Also, since I break hard, my tip tends to flatten out and/or mushroom.

I don't believe I would do any structural damage, however.

If you're bending your stick when you break then you can cause some damage in the long run. Otherwise, aside from replacing tips and ferrule faster, there shouldn't be much structural damage. But if you're using a 3000 dollar custom cue, i wouldn't wanna use it to hit a ball that hard lol.

Yawn
..........

Seriously, why are you even posting if you just come back with stuff like this? Just figure it out on your own if you don't like the answers you are getting.
Frankly, the original topic was a yawn but at least people humored you and responded.

I'll respond where and when I want.
If you want to bump then type...BUMP and not YAWN...makes it seem like you're being a smart ass to people who have taken them time to respond.
