Break out shots

I have been playing 8-ball and 9-ball for most of my pool playing days. In the recent 2-3 years I have started playing 14.1, 1 pocket, and some other games.

My question is about 14.1 and break out shots. I have read a lot of the threads and unfortunately with the permission on my computer here, I can not view most videos hosted on websites.

I am looking for advice on which break out shot is favored over others. side, back breakouts etc. Also, selection process for break out shots.

And if anyone REALLY wants to and can email me some video files of the runs. I would appreciate it, you can learn a lot from just watching videos.

i've got a copy of grady mathews key balls and break shots. it's a staple for anyone that wants to get started playing straight pool.

i'll try to get a friend of mine to copy it for me and i'll mail you a copy. just pm me your address.

i guess the only advice i could give is to get yourself some accu stats matches with commentary. that way you'll get to hear why they're going into the balls a certain way ie which ball they're trying to hit in a cluster and why.
