Break shaft diameter

I have a question for you guys about break cues/shafts.
For years I have always felt like I break better with my playing cue. It has a 12.5mm shaft and a Medium-Hard tip.
Of course repeated breaking tends to flatten the tip, so I would prefer to use a break cue.
What I have noticed is that I don't seem to break as well with the break cues I've tried (primarily 13mm and 13.5mm shafts).

I understand that the simple answer is "Break with whatever works best for you", but I just wanted to go a step further and see what peoples thoughts are on the diameter of a break shaft. Is the change from 13 to 12.5mm really giving up much in energy transfer?

Should I just put a break tip on a 12.5mm shaft and go with it?

Is anyone breaking with a smaller diameter shaft that can let me know their experience?

Thanks!

You need to include taper in your considerations concerning hit.

You might consider practicing your break twenty or twenty five times a day with your break cue too. When you hit with your playing cue 10-20 times as many as hitting with your break cue it is natural to be more comfortable with it.

I have experienced similar results, as yours, with a break cue vs my player. I finally gave up on the break cue and put a LePro tip on a maple shaft and basically recreated my player in a less expensive manner. I mostly play with McDermott. I bought a Lucky in the same weight as my player and, for me, it works best for breaking.
