Break Stats -- 2014 Mosconi Cup, Dec. 2014

Laying it out as below helps me to put breaking and running results into perspective more easily.

Worst to Best in Break & Running (Legal Wet Break % / All Breaks %) -- Legal Wet Break %.

10. Van Boening -- 4 of 14 (29%) / 4 of 17 (24%) --14 of 17 (82%)
9. Bergman -- 2 of 6 (33%) / 2 of 9 (22%) -- 6 of 9 (67%)
8. Deuel -- 3 of 9 (33%) / 3 of 10 (30%) -- 9 of 10 (90%)* BEST
6. Hall -- 4 of 9 (44%) / 4 of 11 (36%) -- 9 of 11 (82%)
6. Feijen -- 4 of 9 (44%) / 4 of 11 (36%) -- 9 of 11 (82%)
5. Boyes -- 2 of 4 (50%) / 2 of 11 (18%) -- 4 of 11 (36%)* WORST
4. Schmidt -- 4 of 8 (50%) / 4 of 10 (40%) -- 8 of 10 (80%)
3. Ekonomopoulos -- 6 of 12 (50%) / 6 of 14 (43%) -- 12 of 14 (86%)
2. Appleton -- 6 of 11 (55%) / 6 of 15 (40%) -- 11 of 15 (73%)
1. Gray -- 6 of 9 (67%) / 6 of 11 (55%) -- 9 of 11 (82%)

A remarkable effort by Gray, he beat the God Ghost 6-5 on his breaks.

Who would have predicted SVB coming in last for running after a legal wet break?

How was Nikos not the MVP?

I don't know what their thinking was. Certainly a case can be made for Nikos, since he participated in 5 winning matches out of 6 that he played, whereas Niels participated in 4 winning matches out of 5 (but with 2 singles wins).

But one stat where Niels did better than anyone else was his winning percentage when you count a full point for each player in a singles match, half a point for each player in a doubles match, and 1/5 of a point for each player in the teams match -- i.e., the contribution to the overall Cup score of 11 - 5. On that basis the records were:

Feijen ..... 2.7 - 0.5 (winning percentage of 84%)
Boyes ..... 2.2 - 0.5 (81%)
Ekonomopoulos ..... 2.7 - 1.0 (73%)
Appleton ..... 2.7 - 1.0 (73%)
Gray ..... 0.7 - 2.0 (26%)

EUR Total ..... 11 - 5 (69%)
