Thank you pool-trax.net for the statistical work you do on pool events. I did not watch TAR 31, but from what pool-trax posted, I was able to go through game-by-game and produce the break results in what is sort of my standard format.

So here are the results from the Shane Van Boening vs. Mike Dechaine match played at the TAR studio in Las Vegas on 2/15/13 and 2/16/13. Shane won 27-17 on Friday and 27-12 on Saturday. I'll just show the combined results for the two days (83 games).

The conditions included a 9-foot Diamond table with 4 1/2" corner pockets, and winner breaks. Having not viewed the match, I cannot list all the other conditions.

Van Boening broke 54 times, with the following results:
Made at least one ball (and did not foul) and won the game -- 36 (67%)
Made at least one ball (and did not foul) and lost the game -- 7 (13%)
Broke dry or fouled but won the game -- 5 (9%)
Broke dry or fouled and lost the game -- 6 (11%)

Dechaine broke 29 times, with the following results:
Made at least one ball (and did not foul) and won the game -- 15 (52%)
Made at least one ball (and did not foul) and lost the game -- 8 (28%)
Broke dry or fouled but won the game -- 1 (3%)
Broke dry or fouled and lost the game -- 5 (17%)

For the two players combined, a ball was made on the break (without fouling) 66 of the 83 games (80%), the breaker won 57 of the 83 games (69%), and the breaker won 51 of the 66 games in which he made a ball on the break (77%). Obviously, these are exceptionally strong breaking results.

Break-and-run games:
Van Boening -- 27 out of 54 (50%)
Dechaine -- 7 out of 29 (24%)
Total -- 34 out of 83 (41%)
These 34 break-and-run games included one 4-pack (by SVB), five 3-packs (all SVB), four 2-packs (1 SVB, 3 MD), , and 7 singles (6 SVB, 1 MD).

I was thinking about offering SVB the 7 & out in a race to 25 for $5K
...I'm gonna have to seriously reconsider.

That is just disgusting...

Glad to see your stats. Couldn't entirely figure out the pool-trax system. I personally would like to see someone do the accustats rating, it seems like a good system for measuring player performance.

With a 50% runout rate under pressure, shane can probably beat the 10b ghost without ball in hand. He's prolly the only guy I'd bet on to do that. I think the typical tournament performance for pros is like 20%. I think the match with archer was about 40% iirc.

This match may have been lopsided, but those who watched night 2 got to see shane's high gear.

80% for balls on the break is also the highest I've seen, in past stats I'm used to seeing 60%-70%. That means mike's break is not too shabby either.

I would match-up well with SVB.
My b-n-r average last weekend was also around 50%!!

seven_7days <<~~~~~should probably mention it was a race to 2.

Here's the distribution of the number of balls made on the break by each of the players for the two days combined. Again, these results are derived from the game-by-game reports from pool-trax.

Van Boening
0 Balls - 8 times (15%)
1 Ball - 20 times, including 2 fouls (37%)
2 Balls - 16 times (30%)
3 balls - 7 times (13%)
4 balls - 3 times, including 1 foul (6%)

Total: 85 balls on 54 breaks = 1.6 balls per break average.

Total: 79 balls on 43 breaks = 1.8 balls per break average when he made at least 1 ball and did not foul.

Dechaine
0 balls -- 5 times (17%)
1 ball -- 13 times, including 1 foul (45%)
2 balls -- 6 times (21%)
3 balls -- 5 times (17%)

Total: 40 balls on 29 breaks = 1.4 balls per break average.

Total: 39 balls on 23 breaks = 1.7 balls per break average when he made at least 1 ball and did not foul.
