Break Tip vs Jump Tip

Seyberts states they are ''one in the same'' within their advertising.
They sell leather and phenolic.

Logic, makes me think your tip for a jumper should be different than a break stick.
One mfg I'd think uses an Extremely hard leather.
Dried out or done in another manner. Tanning? Saddle makers know.

I think leather because..... (holds chalk better).
But is chalking that'? important on a phenolic I have no clue.
Wouldn't think as important as leather.

Gorst and Kaci.... wonder what they prefer to use?

Horo makes a Black Storm tip for breaking, and a White Storm tip for jumping. I have them both, and they both seem to do what they're supposed to.

Both can work just as well.

I have a Predator BK2 with a phenolic tip, a jump cue with a phenolic tip/ferrule, another jump cue with a Bakelite tip and a jump/break with a Samsara leather break tip.
They all jump great. The weight and length of the cue affect the jump more than the tip, whatever gets you to stroke the cue better.

On a break, the BK-2 does provide more power, but this could be attributed to other cue specs as well.

Before the Samsara tip, I had a white diamond tip on the J/B; there was not a big difference between the two in terms of jumping and breaking.

Plastic Draw/Leather Draw?

I've seen Gorst Draw the cue ball after pocketing a jumper.
I would think plastic would not be able to do this as much as leather.

Bulletproof break tip holds chalk great and actually plays good if you can get passed the hard tip sound.

Looked at Horo website.... all tips are 14 and 15 mm. Hate to cut those by hand for an 11mm shaft.

You would likely want to do that on a lathe.

I have a Lucasi jump stick with phenolic tip.
I can jump draw and jump follow (and jump swerve--which seldom does me any good)

I did have a taom 2.0 on both my break stick and jump stick but the cueball was to hard to control when breaking. Jumping with the taom is probably going to be as good as it gets so no change there. Put a kamui sai on break cue after a little reading and it ended up being a wise choice, it's exactly as advertised. Can be scuffed, shaped and does make the cueball easier to control all while being dam near as firm as phenolic imo.
