Break Tip

I just installed a Kamui SAI Control Break too and MAN!!! It’s as hard as a diamond and I love it!!

I started with Phenolic on a McDermott Sledgehammer and wasn't a big fan so I changed.

I went to the Bulletproof and installed it on probably 6 cues. Most everyone loved it except the jumpers. I liked mine at first but after while, lost my passion for it. While I consistently made 3-4 balls on the break, I didn't get the 8_ball snap that I used to get and as I used it more and more, it got increasingly difficult to hold chalk unless I scuffed the tip first.

I then had a Black Pearl Jump/Break cue built for me by Al Bautista. It came with a white diamond tip. Total miscue machine. I took the tip off after two days. I replaced it with a Bulletproof (largely because I had one on hand). Same miscue problem.

This week is tried two new approaches:

I put a Samsara on my Black Pearl. Rock hard and has the "ting" sound but performs well.

The star of the week for me is Kamui's latest release, the "Sai Control Break" tip. I put it on my Sledgehammer and am very impressed. I made 4 balls on the break three times last night in 9 ball league. This tip also comes with a dimple pattern on the glue side so I chose no sanding and it held great and shaped easily.

My breaks have never been better. Kamui Sai Control Break is the best tip I've ever installed or played with. Forget your Kamui pre-conceptions to date and give this tip a chance. It may be the best break tip on the market today. I ordered 5 more of them today. Now I just have to get rid of the Zan's, Samsara's, Bullletproofs, White Diamonds Phenolics, etc. that I've accumulated...

I've not installed a fancy non leather break tip before. I've had a zento green tip in my collection for year and had forgotten about it til I got this new rhino break shaft. I've got the Willard tip install tool....does anyone know if the Willard blade will cut such a tip? If not, I'll try the komet break tip that came as a free gift with the shaft. Thank ya.

I bought the Komet to test it out. The tip that came on the shaft was softer than my playing tip and broke even softer.
I put a Taom break tip on it and it improved a little. My normal breaker has a White Diamond on it and I love it.
I may have to try one on the Komet as well before I decide to sell it.

I had the same experience....but the tip that came on the Rhino break shaft does not appear to be their komet break tip....kinda odd. The komet tip came packaged separately as a gift. Any whos, since I had it I thought I might try it, but then remembered the zento tip.

Update of my "SAI experience" so far. I've installed dozens of these tips now and everyone seems to love them. They get very hard quickly so once you have the shape you like, it stays. The tip holds chalk and despite playing ALOT, mine shows virtually no wear. I don't scuff it or shape it at all, just chalk it up and hit it hard. I've got a ton of all of the other options in my tip case, I'll likely just sell them off.
