Mobile BB tournament. 103 entries. Final 16:
Winner's side: Jesse Middlebrooks, Charlie Owens, Chuck Dorsett, Pablo Matheau, Hillbilly, Ronnie Wiseman, David Trest, Jeremy Jones.
Loser's side: Larry Nevel, Tony Watson, Will Pay, Scotty Townsend, Hennessee, Wayne Collins, Herman Quarles, David Broxson.
Lil Jon, Cliff Joyner, Tony Chohan, John Schmidt, etc.-- already knocked out.
Tournament payouts: 4000, 2000, 1000, 500, 350, 250, 200, 125.
1st Calcutta: 5000, 3000, 1500, 90, 600, 400, 215 (?)
2nd Calcutta: Unknown.
I spent the whole weekend in the action room, and I left at 5 PM (today)Sunday, so I don't know much else about the tournament.
Somebody will post the bitter end, which probably will have occurred after midnight...

Charlie Owens, wow I haven't heard that name in years! If everyone here thinks Scotty is such a character, they should see Charlie and Scotty together. You'll be laughing until you cry all night long.

I saw you too man. It was your first match and you were playing on the table next to the brackets. The one by the wall. I didn't want to come over because you were playing. I forfeited shortly after that and just left. I couldn't fade the rest of the tournament on 3 hours sleep and they had no idea when I would play. Figured I would end up over sleeping and miss my match anyway. Little did I know I didn't have to play again until 5:30 am the next morning. It was 9 pm when I left. I would of stayed and got a room if I would of known but there was no way to know.

You should have hooked up with me. I had two beds at the motel I stayed and it was just me. My road partner had some business problems and couldn't make the trip. I had a problem with the lack of sleep too and it cost me a match against Denny Fox, unfortunately. But it was enjoyable nevertheless. The action was everywhere.
You are still invited to come to Buffalo's for THIS WEEKEND'S tournament. I think Robert and Pablo and Scotty are coming this weekend. It is a one day tournament with race to 7 and 5. Hope you can make it.
Doc from Gulfport also mentioned he was coming.

But I did lose my first match by a freak accident. It was brutal. I had a decent draw too.

It has been my observation that the POKER business lasts about TWO years for most pool players. They win some and they lose some and when the bottom line is measured, the good ones realize they are still making about $2.85 per hour which is about the same earnings for an average but good pool player.
The rake and time invested usually breaks all of the poker players in the end.
We'll be waiting for you to return to our fraternity.

I feel I must correct you as you may have me wrong. I'm not a pool player who turned to poker. I started playing pool at the age of 9 and picked up poker around the same time. I've played both for about 15 years now. Please don't mistake me for the guy who has played pool half of his life and poker for only a year. Trust me when I say there is a ton more in poker than there is pool. By the way... Do we have a confirmation on 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for the tournament? I read some place else that Jeremy Jones got second not third?
