Breaking cue - recommenditation

Our team is looking for break cue. Something that does not cost more than $300 and without that black plastic tip..


Any recommenditation? I was thinking to buy McDermott for breaking because of their warranty.. good idea or not?

For $300 you can probably find a gently used predator BK2. As for production breakers, thats one of the best.

Myself, I used a $60 Kaiser J/B with one of those 'black plastic' tips because it broke like a monster before it was stolen from me. The phenolic tip did help the breaking power aspect. Now I use a $40 J&J just to save the tips on my playing cues. It breaks nice, but the Kaiser broke better. I do jump better with this cue though.

I build conversion cues, and I am also a retailer for billiards equipment. I would recommend a J&J America Jump Break, they are not expensive, and they will also fit a groups needs.

i have a barley used bk2 that i bought new from seyberts. i only used a handfukk of times. 260 shipped in tthe us. thanks.

After the Madison Bob thread I guess I better not recommend my Madison Bob break/jump cue. lol. It is an awesome break cue though.

I would suggest that that player work on his technique for breaking. They take a little getting used to, but once you do, you definately will be getting better breaks. My brother hated his after he first got it, but I worked with his breaking technique a little, and now he likes it, and it does put 'snap' back in your break.

The other alternative is to get the J&J, and just put a white diamond tip on it. You will only be out less than a $100 going that route.

I would suggest the BK2 or the Mezz if your budget is around $300 (I use the BK2)
 
The Predator Break 2 lists for 395. Most retailers sell it for 20% off. This is 316. This is the most off that Predator allows it retailers for sell the cue for. If you go to Valley Forge or some other big show you may get a slightly better deal. I bought mine for 300 even. If you go to a site like platinum biliards it has a chart showing a comparison of different cues. It shows things like deflection. For break cues it shows speed. Under the listing for shafts it shows you how little the predator shaft deflects compared to other shafts. Imo Predator is the choice. Since you mentioned your team, if it is apa you don't need a jump part.
 
I would 'recommenditate' that you learn how to spell 'recommendation'.

That said, I love my Stinger jump/break cue and would recommend it - but they come with phenolic tips, and they're a bit over $300.
 
Does anyone know if the Mezz tip is a hard leather or Phenolic.

In all their information pages, it just says "Mezz break tip"
