BREAKTHROUGH...It Finally Happened

I posted a thread a couple weeks ago about being on the verge of taking my game up to the next level......I think it's safe to say that I've overcome whatever barrier was holding me back and the flood rushed forth.

It all started last Monday in APA League play. I couldn't do anything right.....I mean nothing.....i was playing a lower ranked player who was basically just banging them around...But I couldn't seem to get my roll going.....I won my match 3-0 with the second game going 16 (that's right) innings....it was horribble....but Iwas able to work through and win....

Then came the SBE Pro-AM on Wed. night...... I was all adenaline and nerves for the better part of the match and it seemed I was the one who got constantly hooked even by my own team mates......I shared table time with the likes of Corey Duell, Ike Reynolds, the ever crafty Takenanka....and my team pro Denny Coulter....After I settled down (like being backstage at a concert) Thins started coming together and I realized that these pro's are just regular guys like me....they miss the easy ones sometimes too.

Thurday I went to the expo with a friend who normally takes me 5-1 in a race to 5 bought a new Viking and I went out and played him to help him break it in. He shot great with it...and really liked how it played....I was shooting above average, but he still won 5-3....In 2 of my losses it was an error on my part that turned the game...

Last night I went out to shoot with 6 games worth of quarters to play him (and anyone else in the bar) again...I lost the first 3 games I played....all of them close and due to errors on my part.......

Then it happened...... I paid for and racked my fouth game and proceeded to hold the table for better than 2 hours until I'd had enough and decided to leave....I actually relinquished MY table to the last guy I beat....

What happened between my friend and I you ask? Well I took at least 5 games straight from him. After his second loss he broke out his out Cuetec....lost that game and realized it wasn't the cue. He went back to the new viking and continued to lose.....don't get me wrong these were not blow out games by any means....but I was on and red hot.....

Last night alone will keep me coming back for more for a long time to come......The final proof will be on Monday League night if I get to play..... I will report back win or lose.....

Just had to share....My wife is sick of hearing about it....:D

Thats good news! You probably were just able to get into stroke and thats why you shot so good. Dont take this the wrong way but if you go back and play today and you dont play that good again DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED. This game is all about swings. One day you feel like you can beat anyone the next you feel like you cant even beat the ghost. But trust me if you keep practicing and keep playing your bad days will not keep you from winning. Only your mental mindset will.

uh oh, you have tasted the ultimate pool drug of finding your zone and kicking some serious butt.

You may not yet be a world beater, but enjoy it anyway, and let it inspire you to greater success.

A great player full of doubts is no competition for a good player full of confidence. The physical skills can come with work, but the mind game is an art form analogous to grasping a wet bar of soap. The harder you squeeze, the harder it is too hold.:D

Good job! Everytime I have great pool moments I too tend to exhaust those around me with the intimate details of the various games I played.

Like 5ballcharlie said don't be discouraged if you don't play like that all of the time. Remember it is you B game that defines your speed not you A game. Furthermore you mentioned that you were around top pros. Be careful, watching the pros play tends to rub off on you for a little while.

This is SERIOUS stuff. Busting someone who's a champion gets it in one's blood.

Winning like that, even if only once in a long while, can fuel the will to win continuously.

Awesome stuff!

I went out yesterday and played my usual shooting partner...I had to tell him about my big on Sat night..and he told me I needed to be knocked down a peg.....:D

So we play our usual race to 5 and he came on strong winning the first game.......I won the next 4 to get the hill...(he did scratch on an 8). With his back against the wall he came back strong and won the next 3.....(I scratched on an 8)....So we're hill-hill and I broke dropped a low on the break and was left with no good position. I played a safe, which was marginally successful. He was able to pocket a ball but the table was clustered in such a way that he missed the next shot...We went back and forth like this until I finally found my out with 4 left on the table to his one......I took my time and ran out......
That makes 3 consecutive outings where I got the best of him......where in the past I'm winning 1 or 2 sets in 5 outings....

I didn't play my best yesterday but I found a way to pull out the win.....Turns out I was playing with the Flu...Got sick as a dog about an hour after I got home spent the day in bed......so no League play for me tonight.

Thanks for the words of encouragement everone....I appreciate it

WHAT!!!!!! you're skipping pool tonight. are you nuts?????? Every respectable pool addict would go out and play EVEN if they're sick. Get off your lazy ass and get to the pool hall now!!!!!

Imagine, taking time off pool because you're sick, what's the world coming too.:D :D :p

I Feel Bad Enough

Aww Come on now Supergreen.......I feel bad enough already......I just didn't want to get everyone else sick......I wish the sick guy who was sitting next to me in the bar Friday had stayed home that night too.
Hope I didn't leave them short handed...
