type of hit
I have a funny story about one of St eve's cues. It has a lot to do with why I put so much faith in him and know that there is a bright future for him ahead, and lots to come. I had him make a sneaky pete for a friend of mine. He is a kid that I have been teaching how to play for almost a year. The cue has an ivory ferrule and a little trick that Steve does with the butt in the cap/bumper portion. The cue has that "ping" of ivory that you get with high end cues like Tascarella or Szamboti. It has that kind of a solid hit with a certain smack and feedback. The whole package has a resonance or tone that you can't come back from. You will judge the hit of every cue by it after you feel it once. So back to my story...
The kid has been playing with the cue for a while. Like so many of us - he wanted a little more flash and he also thought he might want to try a low deflection cue... So he buys a Predator and a Lucasi with zero point deflection shaft. The next day he walks into the pro shop where I am installing tips and says, "Sell these two pieces of shit for me!" "I can't get away from the hit of my sneaky." Out of the mouths of babes... LOL. It was a good lesson for him, and a good reminder for me. Keep an eye on ol' Steve. With this story I would like to convey best wishes for a great future in his cue making endeavors.
