Brickyard Billiards had it's Grand Opening on the Labor Day weekend. Most of the Road Players know the place as Airport Billiards but under the new ownership, it has gone through extensive remodeling. :D

I made my visit tonight and was quite impressed and pleased to see there were variety of tables (mixes of Diamonds, GC and Valley). All in great condition with brand new Simonis cloth and plush looking rails. It was more than an 180 turn around from it's previous conditions.

New owners are pro pool players and are going to have Bi-Weekly Money Added Tournaments. I've listed the details of the tournament under the Tournament Forum Section "Brickyard Billiards".

Chris B. and all you road players used to frequent there need to come back down, I think you will be quite surprised how the room has cleaned up;)

Sunny,
I'll be checking it out this afternoon with a friend. I'm holding you personally responsible for the quality of the equipment (so you might want to swing by and brush up a table on your way to work).

Thanks Sunny

I'm sure they would have kept the upstairs, for the extra floor space. Plus, I believe Indy, like everywhere else has a NO SMOKING law. Can't smoke in a pool room????? what kind of non-sense is that? Not only are they taking away the rights of smokers to help gag, choke, and kill all the non-smokers of the world, they're taking away a tradition. You know, the old rep, of a smoke filled pool room.

I quit smoking about 28 years ago, so I don't care. But it did drop the business in a lot of places. My friends business, here in town, dropped to a third of what it was. Now everyone goes to the bars, where they can smoke

SK,
Actually I believe that there was still an option for the previous owners to still allow smoking; but that would have been legal only if minors were prohibited from the premises. They had a choice under the new law, and decided to allow minors and prohibit smoking........then everyone just ignored the smoking ban and smoked anyway. I hope that part will change with the new owners.

No need to brush...

Williebetmore,

Pay attention, all tables were re-covered and not in need of brushing down yet:p Maybe except that one Diamond with Tournament Blue felt:D (Mark G. will give his  for having T. blue ).

I hear you will start the 14.1 League starting in October? Hope you get a good turn out and maybe see you here and there.

No smoke last night

Vegabond,
There was no one smoking last night and yes, previously people ignored the no smoking rule under the old ownership. I hope that tradition won't continue...

Who are the owners who are pro players?

I heard it was 3 way partnership, but I only know for sure of 1 owner, Tom Staten... Funny thing is he was just buying the tables for the prospective owners and the deal went sour so Tom got stuck with the tables.
"What am I going to do with all the tables? So I opened the room myself. At least I have a nice pool room to hang out, haha"

What a twist of faith to end up with a pool room:rolleyes:

When Williebetmore got his 14.1 league going you could see some high profile players like - one and only - Jeannette Lee, accompanied by her hubby and Pro-George Breedlove (It is true the super pro couple are moving to FL). Neslie O'Hare, even though she doesn't play pool anymore would come out since she is a good friend of J. Lee and still gave some wooping.

I don't think there is a designated "House Pro"... cause there isn't one, really, haha. But if you walked in there and say "I want action", you will get played.

Chris Bartam used to come by often with Jason K and Sarah R, which speaking of devil ... Sarah R and Jason will stop in next Monday for something, something. Come on by if you feel like hanging around;)

If the ceiling is high like in cue club in las Vegas smoking shouldn`t be a problem unless your opponent leaves that burning cigar in the ash tray next to you while he is at the table. Then all the smoke finds it`s way into your nostrils.by the way one time Jimmy Reed with his antics did that cigar thing with CJ wiley in a Pro tournament .C J finally told Jimmy to take his f..cigar of that place.Well Jimmy complied with the order.
