Brickyard - Who Got Brian Groces Cue

Here is what happened to Brian Groce. The last time he played any pool was the 3rd Annual 9-Ball Bar Table Classic on March 27 and 28. Since then I do not think he has hit any balls except he has played me 9 cheap practice sets at my house (we stand 6-3 and he is giving me 3 games going to 7). He just uses whatever cue is around my table when we play. We plan to play more since we are working together on some non pool related items and he is over 2 or 3 times a week.

The other day I am at his house and I say Brian get your case and I'll put it in my car so you have your stick at my house next time we play. I was saying this because I am about to hit a gear and I do not want him complaining it is the cue (Honestly he runs out like water with any cue) but I am starting to play a little better and I want him to want to play not just me cajoling him to get up and thought his cue being there would be a plus.

So after some hemming hawing and it dont mattering he goes out to his car and get his case (Whtten 3x6 custom with Bulldog written on main pouch) and he has not opened it or done anything since that brickyard tournament. He opens it up and goes to look at his and he tells me his cues a Madison Bob, Sledhammer break and an old Meuci gambler he has with black playing cards in the butt. He pulls up the them and looks at them telling me about them etc. He is suprised when pulling up his old Gamble Meucci to find there is no Gambler in the case. It is some unknown cue, someone has pulled a switchout on him.

His other cues were put together at the tournement in March and stayed to together till Brian was out of the tourney then he broke them down and put the case in his trunk. He has not opened the case since, since he doesn't play much anymore.

I am posting this for Brian so if someone inadvertently traded cues please let me know as Brian wants to trade back. If someone took the the cue knowingly we do not undersand why they left this cue in the case unless it was just to fill the hole when he was putting everything up if so that plan worked. I will be posting pictures of the cue we found in Brians case if anyone recognizes this cue let me or Brian know as he would be very appreciative of any information. Pictures will be posted later tonight.

Below are pictures of the cue Brian found in his case. This was 2 months after he last used his stick/case. This missing cue is a Meucci Gambler with black cards. Brian does not play with it but he had plans to refinish etc he got it cheap and has carried it for about 4 years. If anybody has any information Brian would be most appreciative. If you know him let him know or PM me with it right here on AZ.

On this cue found in the case. The inlays are actual inlays but they have raised up slightly. There is no name and I do not think it is any cuemaker I know. The design is probably remembereable due to the blue inlays and the floating points. The pin is 5/16-18 with a nipple formed on the end. The joint is completely white at the pin and I am sure it is some sort of plastic.

Do you know this cue???????

Best of luck man, I hear Brian is a pretty lights out shooter. Thats pretty crappy though, I don't hear of that too often around Indy.

I hope that it was a mistake and he gets his cue back, but this sounds like a planned escape to me. Why would they put a cue back in its place unless they were trying to keep it from getting noticed when he put his playing cues back?

Most are really decent people, but there are some a$$holes out there. It sucks when you run into one.

Best of luck in your/his search.

Someone must have been one hell of a move artist because Brian's case was on the table with the tournament board most all of the time. There were people around it checking the board constantly and it would have been quit tough to switch them out since most everyone knows that is his case because of the " BULLDOG " on it. That is awfully strange that someone would take a cue and replace it with another one, unless like everyone said it was to make it seem like it was still in there. It's shame it's been over 2 months since that tournament because if someone did accidentally switch them they might have gotten rid of the cue by now. Pictures of the cue that was left in the case might be a huge help in finding his cue.

I saw Brian yesterday...he didn't mention much about it...we were too busy talking about FogAds...

What kind of cue is that they switched it with?? Is it a custom P.O.S. Cue?? I heard those are real good...:thumbup:

If you know Brian he ain't going to complain about nothing, he love the FogAds and that is positive. About the cue, you are right I think that this is a custom POS, I hope someone recongnizes.

The only reaon I posted this is Brian is not going to but it really s***ks that somebody thought they could get away with snagging his cue, and so far they have got away with it.
