Bridge Question

As I watch professionals stroke, it looks to me that the distance between point where the cue rests on their bridge hand and the CB is about 15 inches.

For most shots, what is the recommended distance?

I think 15 is way too long. Maybe if really streached out. I think more like 7-10 inches for most normal shots.

I tend to agree. 8 inches seems to be about right for most players, although I have seen some students in the 10 to 12 inch range that did pretty well with it.

The longer the bridge distance, the more pronounced any variation off line with the grip hand will be manifested with tip placement on the cue ball. So, while it is possible to be accurate with a longer bridge distance, shortening it up reduces the potential for unwanted spin being applied.
