Bring Back Earl

Just my 2 cents ,,,

Earl is ,and always has been my favorite player . I have watched him shark C.W. and other things that made me just shake my head ,but I have never been in his shoes ,so I have no idea whats going on there. I have also watched him shoot almost as good as God himself ,and all I could do is shake my head .
Does he belong back on the Cup ?? IMO he needs to prove that he can handle the pressure without loosing it ,or making a spectacle of himself .There is no doubt that he can shoot as good ,if not better , than anyone playing the game today. He just needs to get some more wins in and keep his head screwed on right !
Like I said ,thats just my 2 cents .

What's my point? Lots of fans still love Earl. He's not perfect. None of us are. We're all flawed in some way or another. But when EARL screws up, there's a bunch of fans who bandwagon and jump in just so they CAN.
Other players screw up, they don't bear the same brunt or feel the same heat.
I think the reason he does get so much grief is because people know now that it can (and usually will) get to him, and influence the level he is going to play at. There is nothing wrong with responding to the crowd, or playing up to it, as long as you maintain control on the table too and that's where it seems to go wrong from time to time...

From a European point of view, most people over here love Earl. He is great entertainment and you know it's never going to be dull when he is in attendance + any interaction back from the players is always well appreciated.

If what everyone is saying is true and its Johnney or Earl

Johnney is exponentially more valuable to the team than Earl

Let's face, the US team were a ball or two away from winning, it's not like they got blown away

Add in home advantage next year and i expect US to win with the same team

I would possibly only consider replacing Rodney Morris

nuff said . . .

Bring back 'da man . . .

Earl is like the ex-girlfriend you hated being around. Sure the sex was great, but you had to walk on eggshells. I get uncomfortable just thinking about it. I wouldn't want to be in the same room with Earl the Squirrel either. :D I agree that it would be unfair and too distracting for his gentleman team mates to be even have to worry about his possible antics. Let him fly solo like our ex's!

Earl is a jerk

If you would have seen his childish exhibit at Romine's in Milwaukee at a featured Camel Tour event you would agree. For about 30 minutes he challenged referee Scott Smith to give him an acceptable 9 ball rack but no matter what Scott did Earl would not accept the rack. Earl was ahead in the match at the time too. Earl eventually just quit leaving the standing room only crowd dumb-struck. I drove over 100 miles to see the event as did others and that is what we got.

And guess what. That was the last event Camel sponsored anywhere. Coincidence? I think not.

Earl is not good for pool at any level.

I won't say the word "Dummy", I'll just write it :)

Earl is not good for pool at any level.

????????????????????????????????????????????

Are you being serious? Surely you jest.

Let me give you just one example out of a couple of quintillion reasons you are wrong.....

Ask any pool room owner this question.....If he could have Earl Strickland come to his room and just play pool all day by himself and it would be advertized in advance, would he want Earl Strickland to show up? Good or bad for his business that day?

How about this...How many people would love to have lessons from Earl?

Or, how many would like him shooting for them if their life hinged on making one shot?

How about having some friends over, putting in an Accu-Stat of any of Earl's matches and see the expression on their faces as he runs racks.

Ask Pat Fleming if featuring Earl was bad for his business. Earl matches are among the best selling.

He helped put CueTec on the map.

He is the ONLY player in all of history to win 5 U.S. Open 9 Ball Championships. That's a record, by the way.

He is the ONLY player in all of history to win 6 World 9 Ball Championships.
Another record, if you're keeping score.

How many times did Earl help the U.S. Mosconi Cup team win?

Who do you think helped make the Mosconi Cup the big event that it's become? Hint-It's not Daryl Peach or Tony Drago.

Your "Earl is not good for pool at any level." quote gets my vote for the silliest comment of the year. No, decade. Wait...make that of the Millennium. No, that's not quite right either. OK, I think I got it....your Earl quote was the most uninformed post written since the invention of water! :D

That's as nice as I can say it. :)
