Where can a guy walk into a store and buy the link type v belt replacements, I'm local to Charlotte NC and we have several tool suppliers in town. I need one quick without waiting on shipping time, any ideas what suppliers sale them.--Leonard

We have a Graingers, Northern Tool and Harbor Freight within ten miles of my house and many other mid level tool stores.

power twist link belt

grainger's should have them in stock, at least they do in AZ. i have also never seen one break before.(not to they can't just never have seen it)

Check Harbor freight, my local one just started to carry a 5 ft section, right after I just bought one on ebay. I found it in the drillbit/sawblade section of the store. It is a knockoff of the powertwist and is green colored. Everywhere else will cost an arm and a leg. I found a guy on ebay that was reasonable and shipped pretty fast. here is the link:

Hope this helps.

One of my lathes is an Atlas and I got my belts from NAPA.
They were green farm impliment belts.
Just took the old ones in and they matched them up.
They worked perfect.
Run very smooth too.
If I remember correctly, it was about $30 for both.

Both places I would recommend have already been mentioned, Harbor Freight and Graingers. I am in Dallas, so all of the commercial supply companies have them, but you may not have as many companies in Charlotte.

As for the belts breaking, I have broken one, once! It runs on a 2 horse motor spinning a 30 pound spindle with 4 table saw blades. It runs 6 or so hours a day for at least 3 days a week, and it lasted close to 3 years!

Even with that, the best thing about the link belts is the vibration reduction. I just couldn't make that machine run smooth with a regular belt. With the link belt, it is very smooth and quiet.
