Broke in two and repaired Judd

A friend of mine broke a very expensive Judd "Midnight Fire". He wacked the tip on the table and it broke in two diagonally (about 3 inches) from the joint in front of the wrap, across an ivory inlay and points. Greg Sowder of Sowder Custom cues repaired the cue and you can't see where it was broken. Greg replaced a point and ivory inlay added a pin for stability.

Here is the cue before it was broken:

The back points are out of alignment by about 1/10 of inch (if that) and you can't tell it unless you look down the butt end of the cue with you eye right behind the butt.

The cue sold new for 2,750.00 and I traded for it from the original owner and then my friend bought it. The question is:

What is it worth?

I could by it back for 750.00. It now has one shaft that isn't original to the cue but the collar matches the cue.

Unless your keeping it and never selling it than do it but
most guys would not even think of buying a cue that was broke.
Plus it would always be in my mind while i'm playing with it.
Personally i wouldn't do it.

Have you played with it?

Does it feel good enough to use as a cheap bar banger?

To me it would only be worth the price of the shafts if I wanted some extra shafts.

I never I stood why people bang their cue on the table. He must have really hit the table hard to crack the cue unless there was a major defect already in the cue.

Repaired Judd

This repaired cue actually plays very good and solid hitting. I told him I wouldn't give him more than 500.00 for it and by the sounds of it that may be too much.
