Broke my high run.

On a very cool note, I played terrible yesterday (8 ball), I lost 5 games in a row. So I said to Norm (he had already asked) we can change to straightpool. So he's up to 20 balls and I'm at 7 (I had a scratch). Norm then said "You have no control over that cue ball". So I changed one thing I was doing and I was off running balls. I ran 21 balls in one inning, and 16 in another and a bunch of tens. I was and am so happy. I'm really able to play some=)... My high run was only 16 balls and it's ben over a year.

Just wanted to share.

I am playing with a new cue (two weeks now), so I'm feeling a little off.

The change I did was not moving the cue ball more then I need to. The waqy I accomplished that was my warm up strokes and final back stroke. I have a long stroke (great for 9 ball and sometimes 8 ball), so I really shortend the amount of stroke I was using and it seemed to work for me.

Love to read that someone broke their high run. Congrats.

You know, I watched Rempe/Hopkins on DVD and picked up that short stiff stroke and the next time I went to the pool hall I was running 20's and 30's. I think there's actually something to getting rid of that 9-ball stroke that we have.

and I always thought my stroke was so nice

The stroke I have is very similar to Jackie Gleason's stroke, even though he was an actor/comedian, he knew his way around the table and he had that classic violin-player type stroke with a non hesitant follow through.

Congrats on breaking your high run Pete, nice shooting buddy :)

One of the keys to shooting good straight pool is to keep the CB movement to a minimum, other than what you need to do, and as you see the results speak for themselves :)

I've yet to break 104, (unfinished) but I hope that I'll have the oppertunity to find somewhere to shoot pool again, but it's not looking likely as there are alot of pool halls closing down in the UK :(

Congrats Pete on the high run! and the new cue! It's definitely 1 of a kind! Was that "bloodwood" inlaid in only one of the points?:D Vin

Hi Vinny,

Yep just the one. It's nice to be able to say that Mike put his Blood Sweat and Tears into this cue. I love my Webb:D :D :D !
