Did anyone read that article (what a waste of pages) in Billiards Digest a few months ago, about that Bruce Cristopher "SuperStroke" character?? At one point, claimed to be the world's leading pool player, rubbed shoulders with Ali & other athletes......but sounded overall like he was just a self-promoter who was full of hot air.

Way before my time though; anyone ever hear of this flake??

He use to run a ad in the billiard magazines telling anyone who could put up a million could play him a set. Im sure it was the same guy

Yes. I met him at the Asbury Park 14.1 tournament in 1976. Nice enough guy in person.

He had some of the qualities that are sorely needed to promote a professional image in our sport, ie., clean cut, well dressed, articulate, and knew how to act in public. To bad he wasn't a great player.

Superstroke lives in his home town .......bellville ontario........see him at the casino , but never the pool hall............hey joe.....you know a guy named brad morton??

The only "Superstroke" I knew about was a spectator who used to come to big events like Rak'm-Up at the Columbia Hilton in South Carolina. As I recall he was a balding man, wore huge nerdy glasses, & had a rather large toothy & somewhat goofy grin. He was a bit on the flaky side too though he seemed harmless enough from what I little I observed of him. Would this be the person you're referring to?

I know exactly who you're talking about & no, that's not him. The guy you're talking about is named Steve and he lives/lived in TX. Steve was more of a small time bookie back then. I remember him having a little notebook with all the lines at the '91 Rak'm-up classic & then used to see him in the pool room quite a bit when I moved to TX the following yr. I thought I would never see him again and then ran into at the DCC in Jan.... hasn't changed a bit... from looks to personality.

The name does not ring a bell. Where is he from? I'm originally from Akron, Ohio area. They used to call me Ohio Joe but when they shortened it to OJ, I started to go by Tennessee Joe.

I see, thanks for the clarification Timberly. I really don't recall ever catching a first or last name about him, just that he was known as "Superstroke" or "The Superstroke" depending on who was talking about him. Like I said before, he seemed harmless enough & liked observing the matches at events like Rak-m 'Up.
