Brunswick 130th Anniversary or Century?

Both are very nice tables. I'd say choose the one that looks best to your eyes.

Make a deal

BOGO, buy both that way you can have a winter table n a summer table. Thats what i would do.:D

Which of these would be a better buy for around the same money? Both are being sold used locally.
Thanks!

If you're looking for a good table....avoid both of these models.
They are light and cheap....Brunswick prostituting their name again.

Thanks. Are they light enough that they move around when you bump into them? What would a decent player notice about these lighter cheaper tables that makes them a no go?

I'm going back and forth whether I should pay the extra money for a better table. These two tables are in the sub-$500 range. I'm putting it in a basement that very rarely but occasionally has a bit of a wall seepage issue. It's a very small issue, but I figure until that's solved I might want to look for a cheaper table. Maybe that's the wrong way to look at it. Maybe a better table wouldn't be as effected by moisture? I'm guessing and could use some advice.

Look for a Gold Crown....it's a buyer's market right now.

A friend of mine had four Centuries in a row...end to end....
...a one-pocket player jumped on a shot...he weighed about 250, mind you...
...caught the table with his hip....and knocked it six inches out of line.

a light table plays funny also...it's not just durability...some shots aren't possible.

Moisture?.....a forty watt bulb left on under the table takes care of dampness.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad you got back to me. I think I'll skip these tables and look for a better one. Gold Crowns don't appear to be anywhere under $2800 though from what I've seen recently. There may be a restored Victor Cleveland available near me from Lanza billiards in South Jersey that looks like a solid table. I may consider it.

bluepepper you are a wise man if you pay attention to what pt says. The North East should have Gold Crowns if you are patient. I own a Diamond but I would never turn my nose up at a well set up GC.

It will seem like an eternity to wait for a great table but it will seem longer playing on one you hate.;)

g.c. or even an olhausen is a nice home table. there are great products now that seal walls over just a few years back. and like said a heater of some kind and a fan on a humidity controlled switch works well to keep moisture down.

Thanks. Yes, I know of those products. The walls in this area are finished however, so I'd have to remove them to seal them. Apparently the way it's supposed to be done is to dig a ditch around the perimeter and place a drain, but that's a small fortune.

Most of the problem is that after a few incidents we had to pull up the old carpet and padding because water from another area made its way to where I want the pool table. It is now just slab, so I have to figure out how I can have the table maybe set up on shallow blocks on top of bare slab, but then also place a removable somewhat soft flooring around the table. I don't want to carpet again just in case of another water problem.

like it or not if you dont fix the water intrusion, you will end up with mold at some point and that will be more expensive than fixing it, and then you will have to fix it anyway. so just do it right.

get gutters and slope the ground away from the house. that may do it in itself.
if not dig around the wall and install a drain pipe and cover up. not hard or too expensive. all that will take care of all of it if it isnt coming up from the ground due to water table rising in the spring.

Thanks, maha. I'll do what I can. It's not normally atmospherically too damp in the basement. I don't think there's any problem with water table rising, just perhaps ground sloping and gutter clogging causing a rare wall seepage. Half of our issues were bad A/C coil freezing and overflowing which we had replaced this summer, so that won't be an issue anymore.

My apology...

I didn't realize that Brunswick had begun to remake their classic table names...If made today, I'm sure they wouldn't be as good as the ones made decades ago that I play on here...(click for pic)
