Here's a deluxe sneaky pete cue from Kent Davis made from a 65+ year old Brunswick Balke Collender "Challenger" house cue. I love how the craftsmen then made the points sharp on both ends! Despite out combined experience both Kent and I are stumped to identify the wood. It's a reedy wood like Black Palm and has a nice chatoyance with finish on it. Kent says it's phenominal feedback wood. Just wondering if any of our brothers here have seen this wood before? TY.

Could be Ipe. I believe that particular species was used by Brunswick in some cue models.
Just a guess.
🤷

I don’t think ipe. I did a conversion and the grain isn’t ”reedy”, plus turning it produces a distinctive yellow/green dust.

The other conversion I was doing the same time has a similar grain but it is a little hard to tell in your pictures. Pretty sure mine is Brownheart.

(See link for both)
