I bought a Bristol table for cheap I know they are entry level tables but got it for a decent deal.

My freind who has moved tables before shoewd me how to shim the slates and such. My question is how to put on the felt it does not have the pices of wood to staple the felt to? It was glued before. Are you supposed to staple the felt to slate? Or if i have to glue it what is the best way to remove the previues felt and glue residue.

Thanks in advaced

You can't staple to slate so you'll need to glue the cloth to the edges.
Remove the old glue/cloth residue with a razor scraper and a little goo-gone.

OK thats what i thought. Would it be worrth it to add small peices of wood to it the bottom so it can be stapled? That was one of my freinds thoughts dont know if that would work at all.

Thanks

It could be done but IMO it's not worth it. Glue is simple enough to use and works fine.

Depending on how much glue is there, it may help give you a little tack when you re-glue it. If there's enough build-up on top of the slate, you'll want to scrape that off and start fresh, but it there's not much there, sometimes, it will grab better when you spray glue it.

Ok thats how i thought you would do it. There is so much fuzz from old felt that I will clean it off. I dont intend to ask you evreything but any chance you could point me somewhere with info on order of how to strectch felt when you glue. I read the simonoes thing and wa going to base it off that with letting each side dry/cure some before going on to the next side. I really have learred quite abit about why the ball rolls differnt ways on tables. Next time then I get a better table ill let a good pro do it.

I do love this site so much info

Hmm found good info but now to find the better glue....

The 3m Scotch grip or Fastbond

Yay found the adhesive 3M fastbond which seems to be ok to user the other stuff i have to get a grainger which I may still try to do but you have to own a buisness to buy from the for some dumb reason.

I cant find info on exactly how much "ProForm" stretches to no how to exaclty glue but will find out tomorrow i guess.

someone recently posted an excellent video of a diamond mechanic gluing cloth. it's a must see if you are going to use glue.

disclaimer: not a mechanic...

table

Make sure you remove the old spray glue with a heavy duty razor scrapper....your table look anything like this?

table

What cloth are you putting on the table?
-
Spray glue will come loose when cloth is stretched tight and as uniform as we are stretching it today....do it the rite way and order the proper glue, you will be happy that its done rite....think about it..billiardwholesalers.net will ship the glue to you..

Proform. Found out one of my freinds has an account with grainger so he is going after glue for me hopefully.

You should get at least 4.5" of stretch side to side with Pro Form on 8' table. I have found that the green cloth stretches more than burgundy FWIW.

Yeah I just watched it. Its what made the glueing finally make sense. Kind of afraid of the part when he puts the glue on the cement itself. and differnce between

May not be able to get
