Brunswick Centennials or Aramith Tournaments?

Having both sets .. you could play around with things like shooting straight pool with a rack of all solid color balls.

Well, I'm now up to 6 different sets! I think this may be becoming a problem! :) Most are posted in the "pool ball collecting thread" page 92.

Hello, I'm MrPiper, and I have a billiards addiction.

I’m admitting I’d rather collect ball sets over cues. I’ve got a set of Aramith Tournaments on order, and I’ve already got a set of late model Centennials made by Aramith. I’m predicting they’ll play identically, but the Tournaments are too good looking to pass up.

I’ll probably take a ball buying break after the Tournaments arrive. Admittedly the sets I own will easily outlast me.

The Centennials and Tournaments are made from different resins. The Centennials and the Aramith Super Pros are made from the same resin (and the Aramith Measle cue ball is also made from this same resin.

The Tournament is the most recent / newest resin formulation (Duramith I believe) .. denser .. supposedly will not pick up chalk marks as easy etc. .. and will last basically forever.

Didn’t know about the Aramith Pros and Centennial resin similarity. Great info, thx! 👍

So is there a difference in the Tournament Set and TV Tournament Set resin as well?

What's better? I confess the Centennials have a lot of appeal for me, and seem like the "right" balls for my Gold Crown table. But, I'd really like to know which are better, will hold up better, maybe play better? They're not too far apart in price; best I've found so far is $336 for the Centennials, $356 for the Tournaments.

Input, opinions, experiences most welcome!
They are the exact same ball with different color shades. either one you get will play the same.

The Tournament and TV Tournament sets are both made with the new DURAMITH resin / process and are identical except for the color used on a few of the TV balls.

I can play with any brand of pool balls I choose. I had a set of Raschig balls and wasn’t impressed.
I currently have 3 sets of Centennial balls; it is the only brand I want versus everything else out there.
The design, colors, durability and incredibly tight tolerances distinguish Brunswick Centennials as #1.

Sorry if redundant, but the tv tournament set with the measle ball and pink 4 and the tournament set with the black arimith logo are the same material as long as it has the duramith logo on the front of the box? Correct?

I've played with these Tournaments for a little over a year. Compare them to the Centennial below. It's possible the new Centennials are higher quality, but the graphics, durability and color of the older ones can't compare to the Tournaments. I expect these to last a lifetime with proper care.

Try cleaning the Centennials more often. That ball looks like it hasn’t been cleaned and polished for a long time.
I’ve had sets over 5 years old & they looked infinitely better. If you do not clean regularly, this is what will happen.

I've been a real slacker when it comes to cleaning. I have the stuff, just don't use it often. The Centennials do have a yellowish color compared to the white tournaments. I prefer the white color.
