I'm looking at an 8.5 foot table , for my house, in the Centurian model. Is there any chronic problems with this table? any thing specific I need to check for?
The one i'm looking to buy is from the 80's with the indivdual octogon legs

Thanks
Andy

In the past this model was called the Century. The most likely problem you may find would be with the legs. The legs were made of partical wood, not hardwood. If there was ever an attempt to move the table by sliding it there may be fractures or even breaks in the area where the bolts attach the legs to the base.

On the upside, if the legs are in good shape, the slate on that table (from the 80's) may well be better than the slate you would get if bought that model new today.

Good luck with your table search.

The table you are desribing is a older model "century". The "centurion" is the current model that replaced the "century". The most obvious change
is the legs. Centurion uses two pedestal style versus four individual legs.
A o.k table, was just too light for commercial use.

yes, that's it exactly, thanks guys. I just wanted to makes sure I wasn't getting into a known lemon.

I have an 80's Century that Glen "modified" and it plays like a champ. The pockets are now 4.5" corner and 5" side with new Diamond rails and blue 860HR. I am happy with this table for home use and I will keep it until I find a nice pro 8 Diamond..........when I can lay out the $.

anyone know where I can find replacement pockets for this table?
The metal part on the corner pockets

update, isn't google great? does 45 bucks each sound about right?

"one"more question

got my table, a Century from the 80s, love it, still fine tuning my light. anyway , what rack holder is supposed to be used on this table? There's two holes drilled under the ball rack but no rack holder. will one from a GC work? oh and I 've since dusted the ball rack in case anyone noticed, lol

Without having a ball return receiver box, you will have to be creative to make a g.c holder work. The table originally had a real cheap piece of
metal that was bent in a couple of directions and screwed to receiver box, or the frame in drop pkt models.

thanks, i won't bother looking for a one now. i can just make a shelf outa wood no biggy.

I just bought the same table off a guy for $150 I guess I made out pretty good however it was in the 4th floor of a downtown office building with no elevator. Those slates are so friggin heavy. Maybe the joke is on me:)
