Brunswick gold crown 7 video ..everything new walk through from the expo!

I wouldn't give a penny over $5k for anything on the market. Excluding applicable taxes of course. The margin on these things is ridiculous. Sure they look nice but the only part that really matters are the voids in the corners.

Dollars to donuts, I bet we eventually see pool table lease agreements much like cars....lol.

Fastest tables I've ever played on were diamonds. Not even close. While my memory equates Brunswick to loose pockets. "Slow" is the secondary characteristic I would generally paint them with. Of course both traits are completely setup related.

Diamond will always be the benchmark.

Every table brand there is will always be...... does it play like a Diamond -or- how do they play compared to a Diamond.

Brunswick cost is going to deter a lot of people and pool rooms who recently bought a bunch of Diamonds.

Play like Brunswick to me is fast and big pockets.

This particular table did not have big pockets.

I have always personally preferred the playability factors of Brunswick over Diamond...I think the main reason that Diamond has become the most used table in pool rooms and tournaments, is the cost...Diamonds are significantly lower priced, than Brunswick...

i got that
but how do they play?
like a brunswick?
or
like a diamond?
I think one thing you can gather from the video is, the balls are probably going to drop much easier than on a Diamond. when looking at the pocket closeup in the video, the shelf appears to be much shallower. Nice looking table though, well other than the huge gaudy lettering for a home environment, then, no drop pockets as of yet.
As to the rails and rail rubber in the ball action, not sure if it was in this video, or another statement somewhere, but there was a mention as to how they wanted the action to be somewhat more like a Diamond but not like a diamond. I guess I interpreted that to mean they realized Diamond is the most popular option in these times and not changing it's rails and rubber to play like old Goldcrowns, so if I remember right, I think they used the words of they tweaked the play to somewhat more resemble Diamond's play. That doesn't mean it's a Diamond in play but more like a Diamond than Goldcrowns of the past. If those frames of the pocket in the video is correct, the pockets should drop balls easier.
I guess we'll all know in a few months.

I think this is the #1 factor. They found a way to create a pool table that is affordable, at least not Brunswick prices, that played well enough to be in tournaments and pool halls all around.

Somehow I doubt pool rooms are going to convert to these new Gold Crowns because pool rooms have recently converted to Diamonds.

Lets say bulk pricing for that 12.5k table? Lets say a real generous 50% off. So to outfit a 20 table room it would still cost 150k+.

Lets be more generous....lets say 75% off ROFL.....3K .... so a 20 table room it would cost 60k which is much more feasible.

Brunswick stopped sponsoring tournaments 10 to 15 years ago, I think. That used to be the Mosconi Cup table.

Also, Diamonds are much easier and faster to set up due to the one piece slate.
And the leveling system makes it quick as well.

I have to agree with this. Those diamonds that they roll in are shit. The ones at my pool room is like a windy road. Breaks right and then left and right till it comes to a final stop. At the final stop it does a little move too. LOL

It’s like the ball isn’t perfectly round.

Will the GC7 be made in the USA and shipped almost completely assembled like a Diamond?

Some years ago an experienced local table mechanic setup a new pool room with all new Brunswick tables and told me that they received boxes from different parts of the world and everything had to be assembled onsite for the first time. These were not GCs, but they were high end commercial class tables.

The Gold Crown VI is the same way, not sure how the VII will come.

Hard Times Sacramento is converting to all VII's. Timeframe is September.

Yea and I'm going to go check it out.

Perhaps you and I will be the first to report it. If I remember I will do a full review on it here.

I'm hoping Oscar will have them all at 4'' because that's what the people there want. I play on 4.25'' or smaller at my pool room.

I'm sure a majority will be tight (4", 4.25") but he will need to have some at 4.5" and 4.75" for recreational customers.

I saw an interview with Oscar where he said 16 GCs were coming, essentially half the tables. He said he was happy to move tables in and out of the tournament room if a table manufacturer stepped up to sponsor a tournament. Has that changed? The interview was a little while ago. Also, his current GCs are for sale. I haven’t heard his Diamonds are.

Gotta say I am tempted to check out an 8’ for my house when these come out. I still debate whether to get a 7’ since leagues and most tournaments are on them or get a better 8’ than my current one for the house. 3 pc slate 4.5 pockets would be the set up.
