Brunswick Joss Or Not

As far as I know, Joss did not put out sharp point cues for themselves or for Brunswick in the 80’s or 90’s. Some of the east 80’s had sharp inner points within a CNC’d point.

You could get sharp cut or rounded. All you had to is ask. Standard line-up was rounded.

No. Brunswick's with this logo were made by Falcon. JOSS-built cues always had 'JOSS' somewhere, either on the buttcap or the joint rings. Also, Joss one's had 14thread pins, Falcon 18tpi. https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/cues-joss-falcon-for-brunswick.542023/ Post#13 has pic of what the JOSS B'wick buttcap looked like.
You might be correct there, but two things I’d like to note. One is that I’m unaware of falcon jobbing for Brunswick in that era. The other would be that Falcon was not only made in the Joss facility, but was made to the same general specs and process. Even a few cnc operations are evidently unchanged in the first few years. But what I haven’t seen is the buttcap cnc shape of these cues on a Falcon.

So as politely as I can say it, I’d love to see where falcon Jobbed for them-it’s believable. DJ was good to them.

Ernie and Dan were pretty tight for a while. Why they split up i don't really know. Falcon B'Wick cues were made in Toronto. The Falcon shop: https://www.falconcues.com/EN/views/about/index.php Falcon started making early Predator stuff after they split. Falcon made some nice stuff in their Canadian days.

At some point they even had the “Made in Canada” sticker on them.

Falcon is still in business btw. The parent co. is KPS in Taiwan and they are a big outfit. They make their own cues as well as Bear and other brands. They left Canada around 2007ish when the money exchange rates weren't in their favor. J&J sells a few of their cues. Their plain-jane merrywidow NF-12's for around 250bux are great cue for the $$. http://www.jjcue.com/falconcues2012.htm

No, I was researching a Brunswick cue I have
not to long ago and remembered seeing these Brunswicks in a conversation that was stating some of the specifics you are.
Figured the sticker “Made in Canada” was about as clear as possible that Falcon made this line of cues so thought it would be good to add to the conversation.
I would love to have that top cue though, it is a beauty!

I have been trying for some time to get a good grip on this portion of Brunswick's history, and, with y'alls help, I am much further down the road. So thank y'all very much.

One other supplier of cues to Brunswick that readily comes to mind is Schemelke, whose joint makes them readily distinguishable. I also read somewhere that Adam also made cues for Brunswick, anyone know of any others? Any way to distinguish?

Does anyone know the manufacturer of the Brunswick cues with the fancy woodwork (checkerboard, herringbone, etc.)? At least some of these have "Schmelke" type joints, so . . .

Again, thanks for all of your help.

As far as I know, Falcon did not make cues at the Joss facility, though there was a partnership between them when they created Tyler cues in Canada.

Looks like the eBay cue in the first post was priced way too high at $377 starting price. Zero bids. 1 day left.

I think any old standard production cue like this is worth about $100 max.

Falcon's are pretty good cues, I would put that cue at $175-$225 easily.

The problem with eBay is everyone thinks their shit is more valuable than it is and so there unwilling to price it reasonably to begin with.

I mean hell, look at all the 70's/80's no-name Chinese import shit cues that are priced at $200 and above because of one word alone...

Vintage.

That’s the coolest thing I learned all day. It seems like the job went straight from Joss to Falcon. I always liked Joss/Falcon, I‘m blown away that I never knew this. Falcon put some pretty nice looking work into those Brunswicks, too. Thanks for the pics, man.

You’re correct- I used the word, “facility” in a loose way. Falcon used quite a bit of Joss machinery and process. Process meaning machining control.
