Brunswick light - yes or no? Plus height from table?

I have a relatively cheap 4 light fixture over my 9' GC IV right now. Using 5000K 100W bulbs, light is pretty decent, very similar to some of the rooms I play in.

Have a chance to pick up a Brunswick GC light for about $600 that's coming out of a pool room. I'm not sure the lighting will be drastically different/better, other than casting 1 shadow on the balls rather than the typical overlapping shadows with multi-light fixtures.

But seems like a good deal, will match the table, only difficultly will be installing over an already installed table, will make the job more complex, especially for someone like me with no skills...

So, for $600, pull the trigger or stick with current light?

having a nice light is great. You do get kind of spoiled though. I love those lights so I would get it. 600 seems steep although I have not priced that light. I think that is about the price of a new Diamond light...

I would pull the trigger. The gold crown light compliments the Gold Crown table. I have one over my Gold Crown and I love it. Brunswick had a retail price on this light at around 1800.00 by the way. I don't even think they are made anymore.

I really like mine, they put out a pretty even light on the table.
Is the price firm; maybe you can get it a little cheaper.
Good luck.

Well I pulled the trigger. As someone said, they used to retail for $1800 - why, I don't know - but are certainly worth the $600 - $1000 I see them going for.

Unfortunately it has a few nicks on it from moving/storage, but nothing too extreme, and the lighting portion of it and grates are in perfect shape so that's the important part.

Now I just need to figure out how to mount it over my table without killing myself or the table!!! Guy mentioned 4 toggle bolts, mounted over the existing eye hooks in the frame of the light, would do the trick in a normal drywall ceiling. Seems easy once the measurements are done correctly and with some help to lift the light into position...

Anyone know how high the light should be mounted over the table, or off the floor? I'm assuming higher than a normal light. Just hate to have to lift it up and down until the light spreads correctly, assume there is an optimal range for this...

Anyone that has these lights or knows roughly how high it should be over the table, just for rough purposes? Going in over an existing table and don't want to fiddle with measurements too much while trying to plan length of chain, rods, etc. for mounting.

Thanks!

I mounted my Brunswick light 45 inches off the table to preserve the view out several windows in my room. No regrets.

Just say no to toggle bolts, if possible. Find someone with skills to help mount it using rafters/ joists.

These lights are the nuts, enjoy!

Table

Wire/chain/rope...use turnbuckles and look in electrical dept. also use fabric type chain covers to hide the turnbuckles, Get the cloth ones and not the plastic covers. you can pull the cover up/back to adjust the turnbuckle.
