Brunswick Model 360 on ebay

I have been looking at the auction for the Brunswick Model 360 and just picked up on something in the listing that you guys may not have noticed. The cue is stated to be 54.5 inches in the auction. I think most of the originals were in the 56-57 inch range. When you look at the picture of the joint, you can see that the set of points nearest the joint are not complete. I then went to Classiccues.com and looked at the one that Mark/Joe sold, and the points are all complete. In my opinion, this cue may have been broken, cut, and shortened. Also look at the stark contrast in diameter at the joint, and the black collars and ivory look "newer" than the cue. Also note that the one on Classiccues.com does not have the black collars!!!

Anyway, still a great piece of billiard history, and worth serious consideration. I don't know the seller, but don't think it is a scam. Kinda hard to steal pics of a cue with the original owner's name emblazened on it.
 
Good spot. I was on the phone a couple of days ago with another collector and we arrived at the same conclusion. Here's the odd thing - we had the same conversation about a year ago, the last time one of these was on ebay. I didn't save the pictures, but that cue had the same exact 'issues' that you pointed out with this one. We laid off that cue for those reasons. Now I'm wondering if this isn't that same exact cue, refinished? I didn't remember the name plate being engraved on the previous one, but perhaps it was, or perhaps that was added to give more credibility to this sale? in any case, too many red flags. Plus, a lot of deep-pocket collectors are watching this one and it will go high, regardless of the possibly doctored joint.
 
I spoke with him too. I think the story is legit but he has no idea what's been done to the cue. The screw should have been in the shaft too.

I think it's a model 36 one piece that was changed out years ago. It looks like a terrific cue and he says it's straight as an arrow.

Just a question....I didnt goto ebay and look at the listing for this cue, but is it possible since it's a shorter cue that this was once a "one piece bridge" later to be converted?
I'm not even sure if they made bridge cues with the 360 model but that might explain some things that are wrong with the cue.

pretty much Tate's comments above. I think it is very possible, but I would think that if you cut a cue in half, you wouldn't lose so much. The screw being in the butt end also is a giveaway.
