I just recently got this table. I think its from the 1950s im unsure of the model any help? Also what do you think this is valued at? I paid $200 for it as my first table because i heard they will last forever. Any input? Also i think the pocket covers are missing....

is getting parts for $100 per corner piece and even more for the side skirts really worth it? that seems pricey for parts and classic is the only place ive seen them.

Sportsman had square legs:

Sport King had tapered legs:

Does it have the ball box?

Nice Score!

That's a Sportsman, the side rails are one piece, the sport king was 6 railed. Look at the side pockets....no castings;) good deal anyway:thumbup:

PS. The rails are Walnut veneered too, no Formica.

ok so its a sportman i checked the rails.... the newb issue i have is the railed are labled 4 1/2 x 9 but is that the rail size or the pool table size? Also im missing the side curtains or what ever and the pocket covers. Was the sportman below the sportking? where can i get more info on this table? the bumpers still seem to be very good though

also i have paneling on the legs is that original? should i even think of restoring it someday or just take it for the solid make it is and just be happy with my first table?

As a DIYer I have worked with the one piece side rails on my late model Medalist. Swinging nearly 8-feet of 2x6 during recushioning and covering is a pain. From a construction stand point, what are the advantages/diadvantages of one piece side rails vs 6 rails?

Mine too, 6 rails, just has a dowel at the side pocket. It has been a really solid table for me. I am going to refinish it this spring and make a few modifications to it.

Great deal on a great table. I bought one a few months back. I just thought I got a good deal on mine. Plan on restoring and reselling it but have not even started on it yet.

The horns are always at the head of the table.

Don's good people and does some great restoration work, now if I could just get him back out in the field working on tables......:D

Great table

I have a sportking table that plays better than my brothers GC3! The original rails are great after 50 years. I painted the bottom frame and lower skirts semi-gloss black-the brown is awful! I have no paneling on my table, probably someone who tried to make it match the paneling in the basement! The table is 4 1/2 x 9.
Keep your eyes open on craigslist etc. for the corner covers. I was lucky enough to get my table for free on CL! You never know- Good luck enjoy your table-Shawn (not even close to a pool table mechanic).
