wanted to fire this thread back up because it is killing me that i have a cue in my collection and no worldly idea on who made it. We know that it is not a Rambow. That narrows it down to ????? lmao. yeh, a lot. honestly is there really any way i could figure it out?

i was being serious with my questions lol. im really not sure if it is or not. I dont have enough knowledge on the old cues to be 100%
 
That's a nice cue you have there. I wouldn't let it get too far away. If you want to sell it as a brunswick though, I'm sure there will be many people on here that would take you up on it.

wrap unsure........... my brother inlaw has had it for years after his uncle passed away. he does not really enjoy the game and gave it to me because he wanted someone to have it the would take care of it and enjoy it.

he just couldnt give me any history on it. What would the value be? that being said, no its not for sale lol.

Please post a focused picture of the name. Handwriting does not look like a Rambow but hard to say with the blurry picture.
 
Looks like an outer black veneer to me and the points appear to be the same as on the latest model "Titlist" cues, which were actually made in Japan by Adam.....c.1970.....a few years after Rambow died. :eek:

Maybe we can see some better pics of the points/prongs.

this should help. as for the points, the outside is not black but a reddish purple color. i have posted pics of them below.

The veneers are old Brunswick. The shaft appears to be a replacement made from an old house cue forearm. Pretty neat stuff.

I agree the cue is old brunswick. that is what has me asking what this cue is. The collar on the shaft matches the butt perfect, down to the color. I too wondered if it was original to the butt given the points.

Im not going to say its a Rambow, but given all the information and details, until i get it looked at 100% I am not going to rule it out either.
 
Cuesblues has a Rambow with the same style writing on it. It was some actors name from the early '40s.
 
Update!

Well all, after talking with Paul Rubino about this cue. He has reported to me that this cue is not a Rambow. With that being said, i will at some point restore this cue and keep in my collection, its a nice old cue with a good story to me and that in its self has me happy.

here is what he wrote...

It doesn't appear to be a Rambow but it still is a nice restorable cue with a cool shaft. The writing on the forearm is real nice but not Rambow's or his assistant's work. The material in the butt rings isn't Rambow's either. Sorry it's not a Rambow but who ever made this cue had some good ideas and I think knew what he was doing. Just so you know, in all the tools, drills, and taps I had aquired from Rambow's shop there was not one center drill found. The maker of this cue had some machining experience and like I did in my early years, center drilled the joint screw thinking it would help while turning and just handling the cue in the lathe with more precision.
