Here is link to pics of 12 TB house cues I have. 5 of them are new in the box dated 2/8/1963 all the new ones are 16oz.

I was wanting to have one of them converted and keep a few. I know they are not fancy like the Titlist cues but I am really only care about playability. Do these make good playing cues once converted or would I be better off just having a new sneaky pete made? If they are good for conversion does the starting wieght of the house cue matter?
thanks

Dam right they'll make a fine player. Do it.

This is good seasoned wood, and will make a fine sneaky. I would tell you to choose the three you like best, and take them to your cuemaker to measure out and determine which of those would work best. Most want the butt to end up being 15-16 oz, and a weight bolt can be used if they come out too light, if that's what you want. If you would rather not have a weight bolt and want a particular end weight, then you'll have to be more careful in selecting the blank that you start with.

You don't need a "top name" cue maker to make a sneaky for you, and most probably wouldn't anyway, but there are several good CMs on here that can do the job for you at a reasonable price.
Have fun with your project.

I play with one done by ariel carmeli, and its the best hitting cue Ive ever used. It has great balance and hits and plays similar to a good southwest IMO, but that is likely because of Ariels joint and taper on the shaft being similar. Every cuemaker will be different, but you cant go wrong starting out with one of these. Try Ariel and see if he can do it.

Yes, That is a beautiful cue and almost exactly what I am wanting to do this one of thes TB cues execpt I want a white joint surrounded by plain black collars. I love sneaky pete's partly becuase I had a Tim Scruggs SP and it was the best player I have had And partly becuase I cannot afford the nicer custom cues with the veneered points. I am for sure going to have one converted now and am thinking I want a uni loc joint to match an OB1 shaft that I have.

I have an extra uniloc OB1 so I figure I might as well use it. Any partitular reason you are not a fan of the uniloc?

I'm making this one.
The purpleheart has some curls in them.
Hits pretty stiff.

I just like all the threads. Had experiences with them comming apart while shooting. Imo they don't play the same. If you have hours to play pool you certinly have 10 seconds to screw your cue together and take it apart
