Brunswick True Balance conversion

I'm looking for some advice on selecting a custom cuemaker to take my 1 piece Brunswick true balance and convert it to a 2 piece cue. My preference would be some type of white joint and hoppe butt ring - NO wrap. Nothing too fancy, I prefer classic looking cues. I live in upstate NY and plan on attending the 2015 SBE next month. I'd appreciate any input on specific cuemakers that will be at the SBE that would be willing to do this work. Any idea what the price range on a conversion:
Scenario 1) the shaft can be made from the original cue; and
Scenario 2) New shaft required.

One final question, what type of joint pin would you recommend?

Thanks

The shaft won't be made from the original cue unless you just want a pin stuck in there. They are almost always too thin and have some warp.

I like a 3/8x10 modified pin the best.

I'd contact Darren Hill. He took my beat to hell ( how I bought it) Willie Hoppe Pro Model, and turned it back into a brand new cue... perfection.

I'm still amazed when I see how it came out. He LOVES working on the old cues.

He took the handle down so it's the size of today's cues and thus got the weight to 19oz, replaced the joint with 3/8-10 pin, new hoppe ring, new leather wrap that is just about seamless, and installed a brand new OB shaft (at my request) !!!

I'ts like brand new 75 year old cue. I kid you not, it came out PERFECT.

Nothing but compliments from the many local cue collectors around these parts. I'll even guarantee it. If you don't like it when he's done, I will BUY the cue from you. As Earl would say, "how strong is that" ??

Ideologist - can you recommend a cuemaker or two for the conversion? thanks

I trust my old Brunswick cues to Steve Klapp, he has done 5 for me to date and they have been perfect. Exceptional old growth maple shafts that are a matching honey color to the old butts, too.

Very reasonable. PM me if you want a discount.

My Tru Balance

This is my True Balance conversion done by Dick Neighbors of Cincinnati Ohio. Great job, Phenolic butt cap and joint. Charlie D IMAG0768.jpg

I recommend a "Southwest" style pin.

Don't even try to save shaft out of original.

Best of rolls,

Ken
