I used devcon 5 minute epoxy for seal cote for ca finish and got bubbles, never had this happen before, any advice ? Thanks

5min epoxy is way too thick for basecoat use, you need water thin epoxy. West 207, BSI Finish cure or other similar products.
Room temperature should be over 68f, let the piece spin at somewhere between 50 - 100 RPM until it's dry to the touch. Takes about 4 hours, it's fully cured in about 24 hours, I usually let it dry 48 hours before sanding.

Use a bondo card to wipe on five minute epoxy as thin as possible and that should eliminate any bubbles.

use an epoxy that does not cure rapidly............. mist it with DNA ........... it will take care of most bubbles.................

Are you talking about denatured alcohol. Is that what I see people spraying in epoxy table videos that get rid of bubbles.

what kind of wood were you sealing? Some woods with larger pores tend to have air escaping as the epoxy sets into the pores, and the epoxy then sets which can trap air bubbles.

yes......... it works most times............ but some woods will out gas and it will keep bubbling
That is why I keep going back to the thick 5 minute epoxy over the thin slow drying types. But you absolutely must wipe the 5 minute as thin as possible like with a bondo card or you may get those tiny white sanding dots.

Epoxy sealer...thinner is better. Sand until you see wood dust....stop. Repeat if necessary....apply top coat.
I just refinished another builders cue that had .010 thick epoxy sealer on it.....each side. 🤪 So it was .020 thick overall. It was a mess.....and very yellow.
I repeat....thinner is better for the sealer. You are just trying to fill the pores and get it smooth and flat. Different woods will require a different number of coats.

If this is the FIRST time you had bubbles using devcon 5-minute epoxy as seal coat, you must be doing great with it .
Hell, we need to know your secrets .

5 minute epoxy are for quick repairs you don't care about longevity .
And I really hope you have a face shield and good mask for all that CA use .

I have found that all 5 minute epoxies will yellow over time............ that is why I use only Max Clr 1618 for a base coat/sealer... it never yellows
