Just out of curiosity, what kind of a treating process is needed for buckhorn in order for it to be usable for cue materials? My dad is a deer/elk hunting guide, and upon my return to the states, more than likely, I'll be helping him. Obviously, the racks that aren't trophy class for mounting often get discarded, and I was simply wondering what a person with lot's of buckhorn on hand might do instead of just throwing it all away?
Is buckhorn something that needs to be dried in controlled conditions? Or is it something that can be used almost immediately after harvesting?
Just curious.
By the way, I pick up my shaft with the new ferrule today, so looks like tonight is gonna be a wonderful night for pool!!

Sheds, Thats what I thought. Find'em every so often around here.
Last year I found a nice matching pair, Two Leftys. Got really lucky when I found them. Can't wait till next season, Just got a New Long Bow!!!

it has to be dryed out .if not it will crack and if not sealed it will shrink .some of it is softer than other and what part of the horn you use has alot to do with it also.take a good sharp knife to turn it down with.
