Buddy Hall Derby Cues - page 1

I am very sorry. I did not mean to call anyone a lier. The info in the link just worried me. I seen some of the Derby Cues for sale on ebay today (for starting prices that seemed really too good to be true), and just wanted to get some facts about the cues before I placed a bid on the auction that I was really interested in below.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/19068536271...AX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_500wt_1202

I did not mean to offend, or call anyone a lier. I am just passing along research info that I found. I am very sorry if that info is wrong, but I just do not understand why that person (from China I am guessing) would have that info listed about Derby Cues.

I will email Joss to confirm that you are saying is true. Hopefully Joss will confirm that they built models 1-6 of the Derby Cues line. I am very sorry for posting info that I did not know to be true.

I am not sure if the above info is correct (after reading the link below).

Does anyone have any proof (solid facts) that the cues are not actually imports from China? The cues do look very beautiful, but so do Dale Perry cues (which are junk in my opinion, and very cheaply made).

First of all no asked your opinion, and second if you have a problem with something another member says send them a private PM because there is no need to be disrespectful.

In addition to that pissing on some ones wanted for sale thread is against forum rules and it could get you banned.

So go back and read the forum rules and treat others the way you want to be treated!!!!

Dick those are real nice and the prices are also great. I mean there is a great deal of work in those cues for the asking price not to mention the pedigree!!!

Thanks for sharing
Allow me to clarify my position on and the history of the Derby cues.

I have none for sale, I posted the pics and prices three years ago for T. R. Macintosh who had the cues made and endorsed by Buddy Hall.

Back in the day T. R. was Buddy's stake horse and is still his close friend.

In 1984 after Rocky Tillis (another friend of T. R.'s) had a stroke and stopped making cues T. R. bought the equipment and continued making cues with Wayne Gunn (Rocky's apprentice) as the cuemaker. He called them Derby cues, T. R. raises thoroughbred race horses.

Any of the Derby cues remaining are owned by T. R., he can be contacted at 813 986 8814 if you are interested in purchasing one. If I remember correctly Dan made ten of each and Jim made eight of each for a total of 108 cues.

This a photo of a Wayne Gunn built Derby cue and letter that came with it.

Dick either way, I enjoy looking at cues and learning something I did not know. It is a shame that while trying to add content to the forum that you have to suffer and idiot like the other guy who posted.

Thanks again Dick, I appreciate the information you have shared.

Call Dan Janes - Joss - 410 821 0064, Jim Stadum - Samsara - 701 776 7240 or T. R. Macintosh - Derby cue - 813 986 8814.

You apology in the other post doesn't mean shit - "I will email Joss to confirm that you are saying is true."

You are still questioning what I say as true.

I've been in the billiard industry for 25 years and last thing I need to do is provide erroneous information, my reputation is very important to me.

Your comments about Dale Perry are also offensive.

Dick Abbott is selling cheap Chinese cues , ahahahha :speechless::speechless::speechless: ,this is the best joke i hiar on this forum. My friend even so far away in Croatia, most of the pool community know who Dick Abbott is,and what he represent in pool world. You really make a jack... of yourself.

great looking cues where can you purchase them? i know the cue buddy had at derby city this year was a real beautifull cue:thumbup:

I am really sorry. I did not know that it was against the forum rules to ask a question about a link that I found. I was only asking a question (not calling anyone a lier). What is wrong with wanting to get some facts about a cue, and asking questions? If I am breaking any rules, than you guys should report me, and get all of my relies removed from this thread. I am really very sorry. I should have just created my own thread, and asked questions about the cues on a new thread. I honestly did not even realize that I was posting on a wanted/for sale thread, but I still do not understand why it was so wrong to ask a question. I feel really bad now. I really did not realize that the person that created the thread was posting cues for sale. I should have just sent him a pm, to ask the question. I just thought that I would get a faster reply if I posted my question on the thread. I did not realize that my question was offensive to anyone. I am very sorry.

Again there is nothing wrong with asking a question, however, the wanted / for sale section of the forum is the wrong place to do it. In addition the manner in which you asked was more than a little rude to say the least.

Is English you first language?

Is English you first language?
Is it yours? Since you're giving english classes I thought I would ask.

I emailed Dan Janes (Joss cues) a picture of Model 5 of the Derby Cues cue line, and here sent me this reply back today (verifying that he did make models 1-6 of the Derby Cues cue line).

"Justin,
Yes I made cues 1 thru 6 for Buddy.

Dan
Joss Cues"

I am very sorry about the bogus information that I asked about before, and I really did not mean to offend anyone (or call anyone a lier). I should have just emailed Joss cues to begin with, to ask about my suspicions about the authenticity of the cues. I am very sorry again to the op of this thread.

You may want to go back and read the thread before you make any additional assumptions. I am not giving English classes, but the individual I made the post to doesn't seem to understand why people would be offended with the way he asked questions. Now do to my limited experience if some one doesn't understand why their comments were taken in a negative light they either are being sarcastic or English is not their first language.

Hope that clears things up for you!!!;)

Yes, English is my 1st (and only) language that I have learned, lol. I did not mean to question the op about weather he was being honest about the Derby Cues being made by Joss and Samsara cues. What I should have asked (after seeing that link that I posted), is if it is possible that whoever owns the rights to the Derby Cues brand name, if they may have started an import line of Derby Cues with the same exact design? I am not questioning if the cues that the op was selling are are authentic (because I am sure that they are, based on what Dan Janes confirmed to me). I am just curious if anyone knows if the owner to the rights of the brand name may have started an import line of the same cue designs? I seen some of the Derby Cues for sell on ebay (for prices under $200), and they did not get any bids (did not sell). Is it possible that they were imports? Does anyone know who owns the rights to the Derby Cues brand name? Maybe I can contact that person (that owns the rights to the brand name) to ask if they started an import line of cues. Thanks, and I hope that I did not break any rules by posting on here again, and going off subject. I am just too lazy to read the rules, but I thought that is part of what forums are for, to ask questions. I am very sorry if I have broke any rules. I did not mean to disrespect the op, or anyone else. I just wanted to find out some facts about a Derby Cues pool cue that I seen for sell on ebay.
