Buddy Hall

There are still some of Buddy's final expenses that his granddaughter, Lucy has to cover. Rather than ask for donations, I am asking that if you are already going to be buying something on Amazon that you use the affiliate link. The commission will help with these expenses. It costs you nothing. You are already buying something on Amazon anyway, but you will be helping out Buddy's family. Here is the link. Thank you: https://amzn.to/4llJozZ

I have a very simple question - here is a new member proposing that we use a “link” to Amazon- which would require entry of personal pass codes to a purchase site — who on A Z billiards has totally vetted this member and this Amazon”site” as being legit in every way - sorry I not going on a “site” link with my Amazon entry codes.

Stated somewhat differently: Do we have a right to expect that we are being cared for in such a manner?
Further, should AZB place "New Members" on a "restricted status" until they prove themselves?

What percentage of the "New Members" stay and play, or are they, for the larger part, one and done? I can understand the interest in attracting new blood but what is being done to track/secure these recruits?

BB <-------- knows very little but is way curious

Look at my other posts. I have been a close friend of Buddy since the 1990's, and his granddaughter, Lucy Hall for years, as well. Ask around about me. Upstate Al, Eddie The Lock, and many more are friends. I was in charge of the GoFundMe for Buddy's funeral, and I was in attendance at, and posted a long form video of, the Visitation/Celebration of life on my YouTube channel -
. I used to own Chalky's Billiards in Carbondale, IL. Ask around, people know me. Furthermore, the link is a simple affiliate link. you do not have to enter any codes or any information, it just gives the affiliate percentage from sales to my account, which I will use to help Lucy. There are millions of affiliate links all over the internet, you most likely click on them many times every day.

Well your point is good, and IMHO this new member made a GoFundMe appeal. Those who want to donate to GoiFundMe did, that should have IMHO been end of story.

I do not have a good gut feeling about this, and I have long history in life of my gut feeling being truthful. IMHO

Charity pool tournament?

Raffle or auction one of Hall's cues + other donated cues? Other players and manufacturers should be standing in line to help. Whose cues did he play with? Someone made plenty of bucks off Hall using their cues and should be happy to contribute now. Hell, what about a line of commemorative cues authorized by his family/estate? Which brings up the question of the identity of Hall's administrator - I assume his granddaughter?

It appears he used a bunch of folk's cues:
Pechauer
Paul Mottey
Schick
Meucci
Bludworth
Lucasi
Joss East
Searing
Derby Cues (Rocky Tillis/Wayne Gunn)
OB
Huebler
Gina

Well people have given ideas, all we can hope is ConductorMartin, & Hall family put ideas into action plan.

JMHO

If someone passes ONE THREAD is plenty for those that want to donate to be able to do so without feeling manipulated or obligated! If it's the same person creating the threads they need to be banned or it'll get much worse in the future with them or someone else!!

How many threads about this do we need?

I think one and done is more then enough, but when the remind the need is still present, this is over kill.
Suggestion have bee n made about a tournament, raffles, auctions, etc. This will work if the people involved GOYA, and state the process toward accomplishing what was suggested.
IMHO

He played with every cue you can think of. I'd contact Meucci, he kinda was one of the big guys that put them on the map. They may want to something $$$-wise. Same thing with Lucasi, contact Cue and Case for a contribution.

I agree. I'm sure most on here are well aware of this situation and have either donated or passed. As i said earlier these deals suck and its too bad Buddy-n-family didn't plan for what they knew was coming.

Some? Why do you feel the pool community needs to cover 100%?
Buddy was given some very nice cues to play with. I saw one very nice Mottey before he sold it.

Buddy Hall was a great pool player and a legend in many respects. But I’m struggling to understand why people think that the fans of Buddy Hall or the pool community owe him money or his legacy money for funeral cost etc.? I mean I get pool is not like football baseball or basketball whereas the players are millionaires and have no financial issues but just because someone is a Pool fan and likes a certain player, certainly does not mean they should feel that they owe said player final expenses. Go ahead and flame me or say I’m an asshole that’s fine but at the end of the day no one should feel obligated to donate, and those that do want to donate good for them. Just my opinion…

I don’t see anything wrong with someone trying to help the family out and I’m not going to assume something shady going on without evidence. I haven’t seen where anyone has ever indicated or suggested that fans or community owe Buddy or his family anything. If you choose to donate or not to donate in any way it’s your business. When I donate I'm not looking for a pat on the back and when I choose not to I don’t need do give a reason. One hundred % sure everything that has been donated thus far is appreciated.

Your words are the truth, maybe I am wrong but maybe Buddy made money, big money at times, but like many with zero money management skill. Living on the come, never putting a penny away for the rainy day. That is his families problem, not the pool community. Poll community supported request for help via GoFundMe, that should have been appreciated.

Also in this thread member gave the "ConductorMartin" ideas for fund raising, have seen a thank you yes, or acknowledgement of idea.
