What a way to end. On a three foul. I was hoping to settle in for a long night of watching some one hole...that was too quick!

I think Roberto Gomez will be a top one hole champion

Brutal that Corey went out of the event two years in a row on a three foul :shocked2::shocked2:

Unbelievable Almost that that could happen lol

corey

Lotsa people have lotsa things to say about Corey but one thing NOBODY can ever say is that he doesn't take this game DEAD F'ING SERIOUS.

Lesson in there somewhere...

This is absolutely true.

When Corey lost his first round and had to play Chohan right away I felt he'd get the best of it. Why? Because I thought he'd be better prepared to come off a loss and face an uphill battle through the B side than Trex based on his championship seasoning. Not only did he win this match, he continued on through all the way to the finals. After losing the first match and given the level of his competition this is truly heroic.

I also give him major props for continuing to play competitively in 2019. He was never the number one in the world and it's gotten tougher for him. He's getting older and the new generation has taken the game to a level beyond what he can do. We all know how tough it is to play against superior players and get beat again and again. Instead of folding he took up the challenge to continue to improve. I've seen him work on his fundamentals, take on snooker, play all games including one pocket, banks, and bar table, stay in good shape, and really study the game to keep trying to take it to the next level.

While the result of all of this may not be him winning international events, it has allowed him to earn great finishes in tournaments with record fields. And it has allowed him to play the best pool of his life when many of his peers have given up long ago. In the end I believe that waking up each day better than you were the day before in spite of the onslaught of years and increasing adversity is the true definition of winning. This is something Corey has done and something we all have the chance to do regardless of the level we play at. Well played Corey!

PS- Alex is awesome. I got to play him at DCC this year in the one pocket. It was very special to me. One of the greatest of all time. Efren was an impossibly tough act to follow. Alex is making a respectable showing of it both with his dominance and with his attitude. True legend.
