I have a pedestal buffer, 3 phase, 1150 rpm, 1 1/4" shaft. Looking buffing wheels to polish auto clear . Any suggestions for what type of wheels and compounds will work best would be appreciated. Thanks Doug
Domet on both sides. Menzerna IP(not sure of number...kind of dark tan.....??) and SF 175
ivory and white menzerna.
I use a slightly different 'system' but it's Menzerna all the way.
Not all that expensive either considering the results.

I'm not sure how you can get better than the 2 I listed. I went straight from 600 to those 2 with the SPI paint... That saves a LITTLE BIT OF SANDING and a WHOLE lot of money in paper.

No wet sanding?
I don't even touch 800 grit these days.
1000 at the worst.
Trizact is the nuts though.
No need to buff at all.
1200-2000 wet sand thenSo you sand to 2500-3000 and don't use ANY polish???
I need some macro pics of that!!

Randy, do you have a suggested supplier for the Menzerna SF 175?I'm not sure how you can get better than the 2 I listed. I went straight from 600 to those 2 with the SPI paint... That saves a LITTLE BIT OF SANDING and a WHOLE lot of money in paper.
Just to see how it would work, I sanded fresh finish(souther polyurethanes) with 600 and went straight to the wheels with Menzerna 16 and 175....
