I have a pedestal buffer, 3 phase, 1150 rpm, 1 1/4" shaft. Looking buffing wheels to polish auto clear . Any suggestions for what type of wheels and compounds will work best would be appreciated. Thanks Doug

I use a slightly different 'system' but it's Menzerna all the way.
Not all that expensive either considering the results.

Considering I was sanding from 600-2500 and then using 3 different grades of 3M polish at 40 bucks each before..... It's a fricken bargain! Takes about 1/5th the time.

I'm not sure how you can get better than the 2 I listed. I went straight from 600 to those 2 with the SPI paint... That saves a LITTLE BIT OF SANDING and a WHOLE lot of money in paper.

I don't even touch 800 grit these days.
1000 at the worst.
Trizact is the nuts though.
No need to buff at all.

Randy, do you have a suggested supplier for the Menzerna SF 175?

my experiment with 600 grit

Just to see how it would work, I sanded fresh finish(souther polyurethanes) with 600 and went straight to the wheels with Menzerna 16 and 175....
