diy. pool table
john107, I'd love to take a look at your project. Which kind of help do you need with the pics?
iwill be glad to share . i would need help from start to finish on the pic.
would need someone on phone to walk me through.have pic. on computer
don't know how to move them. back to diy. pool table, i just like projects
this is the forth one i have done. i do auto body repair and paint .
i have little to none wood working equipment. went to a local cabinet
shop told him what i was building and needed help about the hard wood
and need cut to my specs he was very nice and helpfull he treated me
right did not charge me an arm & leg ,was very fair. main support beam
was solid oak board used two per side glued and clamped together
came out to be 2 x 5 i think 95 1/2 long the legs was a open leg design
with good brace long ways and side to side. from side to side on top of
main support beam used oak plyboard 3/4 x 5 x 54 long have 10 of these
spread out even the length of main support beam . mounted the ends
first. they could not be over 45 inches long to give clearence for corner
pockets after the two ends in place pulled line across length of table
from each of the ends to set the rest of cross supports to be true
the most important part of building frame work is to have it level and in
square. have you ever tried to put door or window in a house that was out
of square, same principle.you have rails and side skirts to be installed.
not sure without looking think i spent 550. start to finish. used mdf board
for playing surfface has a good roll does not make board noise as ball rolls.
yes i know thats not as good as slate. the price of slate would be to
expencive for a home made table . slate to my door was about 650.
way to much to put in a home made table. used popular for the rails,
9/16 x 47 inches eight each side rails glued two together end rails did the same was 53 inches cut four glued two for end rails. the cost for sub rails
was to much. after all rails was glued used rail liners to glue cushion
on to. it was a lot of time and work , not a walk in the park.
after built rails used red oak stain . looks factory built.
plays and has a good roll. its no diamond or gc but super nice for the money. has 4 1/4 pockets 1 1/2 shelf all angles are cut right no refunding
the balls. would like to do another table . if i would get postive feed back
would like to do work shop here on az . post pic. of each step . and break
each step down . trust me its a good learning experence to . i have all
the specs of the cuts for the side skirts to fit and clear for side pockets
and not out run the rails at the end.i have all the numbers for side and corner pockets cuts . tell me what you think about this . would wait till
spring to start this project.who would be interested,let me know.
