Builder recommendations.....

I have finally collected the pieces of wood that I want to have a plain jane wrapless player built out of, now I need a builder. The builders I had in mind were Gilbert, Mordt, Klein, and Frey. So far I have sent an email to all but Frey, I know Bob doesn't do that, but the only person that has got back to me was Klein and he is on a waiting list and not making PJ's. So I am gonna take a swing and call Gilbert, Frey, and Mordt but if they don't respond I need another option. I want a PJ with fancy rings at all locations and either a 3/8-10 or 5/16-14 piloted like my Frey. Firm shaft taper is a must or be willing to match up some OB Classic shafts to match.

Any help is appreciated. Just give me a way to contact, I prefer email because I have a prebuilt spec sheet ready to email.

Call Jerry! He will take care of you. Tell him Wedge sent you!

Gary Johnson of Flippin, Arkansas. Nicest man in the biz. Makes a HELLUVA player and the single best breaker I've ever felt.

CJ Wiley took 2 shots with mine, held it close and said, "Man, who made this??" Then spent more time hitting with it than I ever expected.

And no, I'm sure you haven't heard of Gary, but he lurks on here. Can't remember his username, but I have his cell number.

I have a hard time coming up with an alternate given that all of your choice are not known for non-responsiveness.

Bryan Mordt seems to fit what you're looking for. Andy of course can do the basic cue, but he's getting more and more known for fancier cues. And will Frey do a plain cue with fancy rings? He's not really known for them, though I'm sure he can do it.

do a search for topaz in the cue and case gallery and look at her gilbert that cue was built for her christmas merry widow with abolone ringa and cortland wrap

I talked to Jerry Rauenzahn. Give him a call he will work with you. He has built cues when the buyer has supplied the wood for the main construction. You will not be disappointed with Jerry's quality, prices, lead time or customer interaction'

Hope this helps

Jerry Rauenzahn has constructed 15+++ cues where I 've sent the wood, ivory, and SS radial pins that I wanted him to use. You will not find better communication and customer support from anyone else. He is WAY above the curve. I have more than 50+ cues he has built for me. He's the BEST!!!! THUMBS UP +++++.

His cues play great! (ask around)

I'm not even going to mention any cue-maker because as you can plainly see, opinions run far and afoul........
just decide what your budget is....pick a number...the most you'd spend......that should be easy and simple to do.

Okay got that number, write it down....believe me you'll refer to it later on......and then browse at cue listings....
locate a cue-maker you like the style of their cue designs....don't even bother asking about how it plays because
that's another can of worms.....and then contact the cue-maker.

You'll probably see lots of cue-makers you want but look at that piece of paper......at some point reality sets in
and what you like you can't afford and what you can afford you may still like......this is a process you go through
alone..........listen to others and if they're wrong, you pay the price of the mistake.

Anyway, even though the cue won't be fancy or ornate, after you've seen the fancy work of some different cue-makers,
go with the one that's interested in making it become a cue but look the way you'd prefer it to turn out. You'll quickly
see which ones are interested as I found out. You can't go wrong as long you don't rubberstamp someone's else's
recommendation about which cue-maker to use and instead, make your own choice.

Thanks to all for the input! I have narrowed down to BCM, which is my unknown here but I like his work so far, and -R- which I had forgot I had actually hit one before until Wedge and my buddy Tom reminded me I had. Gave up on Gilbert as i still have not heard anything. Does anyone out ther have any pics of plain jane -R- cues. It would be appreciated. Thanks.

Not exactly plain Jane but Old School examples of his work!

Chris Nitti, he answers his phone and builds one hell of a cue....great communication. He is also a player which I think contributes to his cues playability. Makes everything from plain Jane's to very fancy. I am having a pretty big cue being built by him right now..def different from what u usually see come out of his shop!!
