Bumperless butt

I have used bumperless cues for years and never damaged a single one. The two biggest things I had to learn were to not lean on my cue or lean my cue against the wall on a non carpeted floor. I have easily added weight bolts that accept an extension.

My current player is a 2003 Mottey that doesn’t have a bumper and has a bolt for a carbon extension.

I've seen lots of buttcaps destroyed. Many of them because the bumper expanded when someone spiked the cue.
Recessing the bumper is a dangerous design in the hands of someone that gets angry enough to spike their cue.

Exactly. I've repaired more buttcaps from cues with bumpers than from bumperless. Look how well the Hoppe caps held up.
People without bumperless probably take better care of the cue and don't slam the butt on the floor when they miss. I broke a Schon butt plate when a young man after I missed an easy shot. Just tapped it firmly on the floor and it cracked.

It's nice one bumperless, bro. Sometimes I wanna take my bumperless Tasc out to play some racks but I'm scare of damaging its butt end. So I changed bumperless style to bumpered style with my adapter. LOL.
