Is there a rule for how many times you can Bump your own thread?

There's a poster in the Wanted/For Sale section who has 3 threads going at the same time listing 3 items he's trying to sell and he's Bumped his own threads a total of - 11 times for the 1st, 12 times for the 2nd, and 14 times for the 3rd. I haven't read anything stating what the limit is, but this seems excessive to me and almost like pushing other posters items away from the front pages each time he bumps his own thread.

I'd like to know what some of the others on this board think of Bumping your own thread like this and in this case the poster is bumping 3 threads at the same time?
 
No...but I sure as heck wish there was.

But this tells me that either the cue is a POS, or his price is WAY outta line. Let's be honest here.
 
As of now there isnt a limit. But its pretty hard to enforce, you can have a "non-bump" type bump. You really cant draw the line on what is a legitamate bump or one that you are truly adding something else, like more information on a cue or something.

A fishing forum I go ot sometimes has a strict no bump rule. Bump and your add is removed. Now it gets tricky when you are lets say, adding a new picture of the same item from another angle. Is that a bump or not? Or what if you get someone else to bump you?

But that add annoys me also. I dont think anyone is going to buy it at that price and its being bumped up 2x a day. But I didnt see a bump for tuesday lol must have been busy. lol

Ever think about giving the excessive bumper some bad rep points? I bet that'll get their attention...

That's the funny part the guy is doing so much bumping he does not even know what day it is . The 28th and the 29th are both Monday.:rolleyes: :confused:

LOL too funny. So I guess he did get his bump in for Tuesday, just called it a monday bump haha

I think a bump a day is acceptable. Bumping 3 or 4 times a day is just too much. Sometimes a bump is needed to get the exposure you need to move the item.

I don't think a cue not selling is totally an indictation of a crap cue or high price. Sometimes your timing just isn't right, not every cue is hot.
 
I don't think bumping should be aloud at all--ever. The threads that are "unread" by each person are in bold, someone who wants to see them all will look back however many pages it takes.

Actually an ocassional bump is the lesser of 2 evils. It is better then just starting another thread.

Great idea if we didn't live in a society that constantly needs to be spoon fed. A bump is a valuable tool it just shouldn't be abused. I really don't think its that out of hand here.

Sometimes you see cues that don't sell for a week and then they get the usual bump and it catches the right eye and the cues sells right away to someone that might have though it was sold..

I don't recall which item it was, but I was interested in making the purchase. Then as I paged down there was just bump, after bump, after bump. I think I counted 11. I was so turned off :mad: by all his bumping that I refused to make the buy. I was not going to reward the guy for his ignorance here on AZ. I can c a couple of bumps, but all that was just plain old rude and inconsiderate of fellow posters.

I DO like the idea of giving a bad "rep" to reward them for their rudeness to their fellow AZers. I think I'll give it a try the next time all that bumping angers me.

The alternative

There is also someone who bumps a couple days then starts a new thread. So when you answer the last thread that started a whopping 3 days ago...he never answers. Now he has 4 identical threads going. When you have someone that has 104 posts and 60 of them are bumps...20 are tap, tap, tap, and 15 are reposts of something they already started....That gives you a good idea of who you are dealing with. You should assume theres gonna be some drama or problem from the get go. If you buy something and have problems...its your own fault.
All the more reason to make the For Sale section a pay section. Just pay $2.00 (paypal) everytime you want to sell something. If someone wants to bump it 100 times...let him. It's HIS $200. Anyone that complains about $2.00 to sell a $1500 cue should be banned anyway, lol.
