Bustamante/Parica

5-4 Bustamante right now, should have been 6-3 but Francisco scratched on the 8 ball in the side pocket.

Great shot by Jose into the side pocket, fooled both announcers on whether he had on offensive shot. 6-5 Busta.

6-6, Jose breaking. Note; watch how Parica aims low on the CB almost every shot, even if he's going to hit with follow. He taught me this years ago and I've explained his reaon for this before.

Rude, I notice a couple local players that do this sort of thing. They either address the cue ball with the same english (low left for example) and then change it on their final stroke, or they address the cue ball with the opposite of what they are going to hit it with on the final stroke.

What is the reason for this, oh great keeper of all knowledge? :)

Well Mike, he does this to confuse the spectators so they never know what he's going to do, but, with the Measles ball, the secret is out. ;) J/K, he does this because if he aimed at the top of the CB, it hides his contact point.

Doesn't it exagerate the english if he doesn't move his bridge on the final stroke? I have never actually tried to hit a ball with this technique. Afraid it will screw up whatever semblance of fundamentals I might have.

You weren't supposed to ask that question Mike, cuz he didn't tell me that part yet. :D I've played this way at times and it is kinda tough to get used to but when you get the hang of it, it comes as natural as your usual playing style. I wouldn't recommend it unless you're practicing every day, unlike me these days.

You can see the cueball better. A lot of top players aim low.

Parica just missed a BAD 7... to go to the hill! That after one of the best safeties I've ever seen.

Many people who do this are using backhand english. With many cues this technique will cut down the squirt of the cue-ball. Takes practice but once you have it down pat you don't have to compensate for the english applied, you just aim at the spot on the object ball to pocket it as if you were'nt using english and on the last stroke your back hand moves to put the tip at the place you want to hit the cue-ball without moving your bridge hand. Many good players use the technique.
