Butt and butt sleeve separation

I have a Schon cue and The butt and butt sleeve have seemed to separate. It’s not a gap, but a ridge. The sleeve with wood inlays is ever so higher that the white butt. Does this normally happen do to wood swelling? Schon says wood contracts and swells all the time, but I’ve never seen it happen on any of my other cues.

Has the cue moved from one part of the country to another recently?

Or been exposed to water/humidity?

That looks to be ten thousands of an inch. Not normal for the components to change that much.

Seasonal changes in humidity and temp can pop rings but that seems a little extreme.

Moved from CT to AK. It’s always been in a climate controlled area. Never left in a car. Fixable?

sounds like humidity, likely from the difference in climate, and likely will settle to it's happy place, which may be raised above where it was

Yes it can be fixed, but would probably need a refinish. Probably won’t change much but I would wait a bit to make sure the wood has stabilized.
