I need some advice on a McDermott butt cap. Had to reinstall a customers butt cap on a McD and refinish. Black with a wolf overlay.
I keep losing the white on the clover when I sand the butt. Any tips on how to keep the white outline for the clover with the M inside shy of
sending it back to McD. Customer didn't want his stick sent back to
the factory because of the cost of repair vs the value of the stick.
Also, does McD use stain on their sticks or paint. This stick is black with wolf overlays, and leather wrap? Thanx for any help. cribbeecues

Does this mean as you sand it, it doesn't show, but when applying more finish, it comes back?
A pic or two would help. Mcdermott has about 30 thou of finish, so sanding it down and losing the logo for good takes quite a bit of sanding.
PM sent.

The white shows up a little after sanding, but when I put a urethan finish over it
it dissappears. I have gotten into the finish in a few areas because I can see
the wood. I may be losing some of the outline of the clover. Took a dental
pick to try and keep the edges of the clover defined with minimal results. Thanx for replying Dave.
