butt construction

Thank you for sharing this info, very interesting!

Just to clarify.... The stead rest with the donut in it is placed right up to the face of the rotating piece. I put a little cue wax on the head of the drill before I start drilling. The head of the drill is larger than the shank so after the head is in the piece, there is nothing supporting the drill. It will maintain its bore by itself. I use about 40 to 60 psi air in the drill.

Even though I have just begun my journey of enlightenment in cue making with Rick at Esoteric Cue, (scdiveteam on AZ) this is a subject I feel confident to address.
Because each component of the cue that is created by drilling and dowelling, (butt, handle, forearm), is typically 12" or less in the case of the butt sleeve (+/- 5",) there is no need to drill much more than that.
What is your concern?

Thanks for the opportunity to chime in...

Thanks for your reply,
I was wondering if it's possible to core a 19" long forearm for a possible future project, that's why I placed the question.
