"Butt joints"?

prewitt

recently went to indy cue store and looked at a bem prewitt cue he had and while the ring work was pretty i just didn't see enough cue to justify $2250 when their are so many other nicer cues for less money, don't see $2250 on the secondary market either for them.decided to stay with my south west;)

I know I should just let a sleeping dog lie, BUT, You did say
"I was explaining that I thought it was a nicer cue than MOST of the SW's I've seen, because the veneer seams are right in the middle, unlike SW's that usually have one side of the veneer longer than the other."
That is less than a compliment? And you are right, Its less work, Not as pretty, and qutite noticable to the true connoisseurs.

I know you were not kicking anyones dog, AND NEITHER AM I,as i have said over and over again," They are good cues, Just way over priced"
I just sooo rarely here anyone speak clearly and frankly about sw cues.I couldnt resist chiming in, A lot of folks seem to be unable to disscuss them as they would any other cue manufacturer?
By the way David paul K. was the first one I know of to use that method of point construction, He did it I am told, because it was easier to do and more forgiving.

Hi guys, I have a couple of old cues, that have loose rings. you can grab them and rotate them very easily. what is generaly done here? hard, easy, costly?

Thanks, Jayman.

What section of the cue are the rings loose. Shaft, joint, A- Joint (Splice) or
Bottom of Butt.

Its a sixties palmer model K it has loose rings above and below the wrap, I have a 60's viking deluxe champion, that has the exact same problem.

Ok, while Im on a roll..

now jay maybe you don't recall what you have said in the past but if you reread your old posts you will be reminded that you have taken every cheap shot that you could at south west cues and their owners.my south west only cost $721 plus shipping,an invoice can be provided if needed, thats a far cry from $2250 for a plain pruitt cue,or some of the others like tad or manzino or scruggs.south west workmanship is as good as anybody's and better than most,my cue was ordered to be a twin to the one that 8ball-rat just bought from me and they were identicle in every dimension even though they were made twenty years apart, try that with another cuemaker.now go drink your koolaid:D

I have never said I dislike them, I only feel there are BETTER cues for LESS money, a LOT less in some cases. They are decent cues for sure! NOT like This p.o.s ADAMS
